Lovely walk by the Jubilee River

It was frosty this morning, I went out fairly early to post another letter, certainly catching up with the correspondence! I took a photo of the bird in the tree. You cannot see what it is but it had a red spot under its beak rather that it’s chest, it was singing away and didn’t fly off when I stopped to talk to it,

I took a couple of pictures of the refectory and the passageway above it, then I did the blog this morning before going out,

Mark, the cook/it support drove me to the Lake House Cafe and had armed me for the walk back alongside the river, getting on for three miles so I knew that both ways would be too much of a challenge for me and my knees at the moment! I had lunch there, a nice view, pity I didn’t take hot camera as there were cormorants and a heron about.
These two photos at the start of the walk.

I took loads of photos trying to get an image of the heron on the other side of the river with the phone, these were the two best attempts.

After that a long and winding walk, only two benches along the way so made use of them! Will just add lots of photos now, it was a glorious day for a walk.

The last half mile was along a busy road back to the abbey. Haven’t done a great deal this afternoon, have taken a couple of photos of the chapel but will post those tomorrow. Have been mostly reading and cross wording and have assists one of the nuns this evening before locking up. Not planning too much exertion tomorrow!

  1. You’ll have definitely caught up with all the letters you need to write. Definitely a bonus not having tv to distract you. The refectory looks beautiful. In fact the whole place looks great. I think I’d be happy to stay there for a week. It does help having a little bit of sunshine even though it’s still freezing! I wouldn’t want to be a cleaner there with all that wood to look after.
Mark sounds a great bloke. So nice of him to give you a lift to the cafe. I think 3 miles is enough exercise for anyone. 6 miles is pushing it a bit with your knees! The view from the cafe is lovely. I’m getting more tempted with every photo.
I like the pic of the bridge and reflection. You framed that up very well. You do have a good eye. Hopefully you’ll get another nice day when you can go out with the other camera for the zoom pics. You have a great selection of pics tonight and considering they’re all taken with a phone they’re extremely good. You’ll have to put together a multi frame with some prints when you get home.
I think you’ve done more than enough for one day, so a quiet..ish day tomorrow is a good idea.

  2. A longer walk that I have attempted in a while, and not too achy, yet, tomorrow will be the test! I had a lot of photos band trimmed the posted ones back, it was just beautiful and peaceful and the bright light made for good photos.
Mark is really friendly and happy to give me advice, lifts and even delivered me a cup of tea when I got back from the walk!
