I made the mistake of starting my journey up a pretty short but very steep hill to the cliff tops, that set the tone for feeling exhausted for the rest of the day! Took some pics of the north bay though.
I made my way into town and turned down Bar Street as I though that was where the cafe was that I intended to visit for lunch. Picked the wrong road and ended up near the Grand Hotel.
Turned into Huntress Row and found the cafe, was ready for my lunch. After that I went to the Vodafone store and a very helpful young man sorted out my new contract. I walked to where the post office was, but not there anymore so made my way to Smiths. Got some more stamps to take with me to the abbey, in case they have postcards. But even if they don’t I will have plenty of time to write letters, hands permitting! I was feeling pretty weary so stopped for a sit down in the quiet area opposite the station.
Then walked to Sainsbury’s where I was meeting Tina. Some sky pics for a change.
It was getting on for 4pm when Tina collected me. We stopped at Lidl but Tina wasn’t able to get a decent charge for the car so she drove back via the leisure centre. A charger was free there so we left the car and walked home. Nearly forgot the last pic from the journey home.
Have been getting packed and making lists for the abbey stay. As far as I know I will be off line so will be back on 12th November. If there is internet there then will do the blog.
I do love Scarborough but I know how the hills there are killers! I remember well how they used to make my legs ache! It’s always good to see pics of Scarborough though as it’s a great place. Makes me really want to visit again. A walk around Peasholm Park would be really nice. I bet you were really pleased to sit down for your lunch after trudging uphill! Glad you finally got your phone contract sorted out. I think you’ll definitely need a good supply of stamps as I’m sure you’ll be doing a fair bit of letter writing. A week without any telly and other distractions does sound good ad it means you can do other stuff like writing, reading, drawing etc. Whether that actually turns out to be the case is another matter.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite pic tonight is the one of the sky shot with lamps and houses in silhouette and the solitary red light. I don’t know why but it just appeals to me.
Good luck with having internet when you get there. Not sure if nuns watch YouTube and visit Facebook 😊
Feeling quite weary now but think I am organised for the trip. If I have fantastic photo ops in the morning may do a short entry before we leave!
