Starling feeding frenzy!

I did do a little gardening this morning, mostly removing some of the bigger weeds.
After dinner I sat out in the garden for a while in the summer house hoping to see some tiny birds on the feeders, but there were numerous starlings desperately trying to feed their very vocal babies! I will put a good selection of photos as it was interesting to watch. I did take a lot more!

The young ones look big and not shiny yet, they look like a different bird!

Adding these a few at a time and not done yet!

Just three more starling pics!

On another subject I did a couple of very quick sketches while we were away. The first  one, in the town, started well but it was a cold morning and my fingers went so numb that I dropped the pencil!
The other one I did at Bursay Brough and used some watercolour pencils but the choice of colours was limited and again I couldn’t sketch for too long. I wasn’t at all pleased with it but one of the ladies I travelled with really liked it and asked if she could have it, so that one has a new home!

  1. Glad to hear it was only a little gardening. A few days relaxing will do you good and the garden will still be there another day. No doubt you’ll be in full flow out there next week!
You really have made good use of the camera lately, and the monopod too. You’ve got some great pics of the birds again. I really like the way you’ve caught the movement in the wings of some of them, but the bodies are in focus. They must be going through the fat balls at a fair rate of knots with all those babies!
I like both your sketches. You’re way to hard on the work you do, it’s good. I’m very sure the lady who you gave it to is more than happy with it. I doubt it’ll be long before it’s in a frame 😊

  2. The other ladies liked it too and she is intending to put it in a frame.
I was really pleased with the pictures and I like using the monopod.
They are indeed going through food at quite a rate!
