It is a truly fabulous place and a great place to finish out trip. You could see the causeway but it was too deep to cross.
So many different views.

Lunny talked me into clamouring down into this bay!
She thought it was very funny when I was trying to get back up to the top!
A couple more views!
This next shot was a fisherman’s hit and the one after that is where they kept their boats after dragging them up the cliffs.
The light was changing and the sky yellowing.
Unusual seabirds.
It was a fair old walk but we got as far as the Whalebone landmark.
It took us a while to walk back then I took a picture of the fantastic picnic bays they had once it was empty. What a brilliant idea and you could light fires in them if you wanted to.
A few that hadn’t had enough exploring went down to see how far they could get across the causeway!
The sun going down made a dramatic finish to the evening.
That looks a really nice place. The seals seem to be having fun rolling about in all that cold water! There’s a lot to be said for blubber 😊
ReplyDeleteI think I could spend hours there taking pics. A tripod a flask and lots of sarnies!
They were wicked to you, making you climb up and down things. Good job you’re adventurous and have a sense of humour.
More pics appeared as I posted my comment. I like the one of the bird nesting, or hiding. I think the plant in front of the bird makes the pic. Bet more will appear as I post this 😊
ReplyDeleteNot sure if that’s all of them now, but I’ll chance it. A great set of pics. Every one of them is a good one, although I think my favourites are the silhouettes.
ReplyDeleteWell it wasn’t. But the sunset brought it all to a nice ending. Great set of pics.
ReplyDeleteWill just write one response, I have been quite a time making this entry. I took so many pictures on this particular evening it is quite a magical place and so much to see. Lunny really wanted to get across the causeway but it was getting late and it was quite a drive back to Kirkwall. Wanted to get some of the pictures onto the blog though.
