Wet journey to Peterborough!

I caught the bus before 9.30 am this morning. I know other pensioners just pay to the next village and then go and use their bus passes, I had planned to do that but think it is a bit cheeky so was going to pay into Hull. This bus driver asked if I had a pass and then told me to just pay to Sigglesthorne and he would pull in at the bus stop there for me to use my pass. I have been on the early bus a few times and the drivers have always just taken the money for the ride into the city. So that was good and before that there were a group of teenage school lads who had let me onto the bus before them, really nice group of lads.
The first train was a little late but I had plenty of time for the changeover, I sat on one of these seats, I haven’t got a stick and I am not pregnant but made use of them as they were empty!
The second train was late and then there was nowhere for my case so I was about to stand. The lady guard was my next nice person of the day she said I could move to the next carriage where there were seats and room for my luggage, so that was good.
I made my way to the bus station and had to cross the footbridge, in the pouring rain, bouncing my case up and down the steps! When I got to Morrison’s it was still bucketing down and they weren’t letting anybody in as they had had a power cut. I went to Asda and had a drink and then into Hobbycraft to try and get some wood to make dolls house furniture with. Then a wet walk to Rachel’s.
We have had a lazy evening and a good catch up.

  1. SGlad you’ve arrived safe and sound, albeit a bit damp! Nice to know there are some kind bus drivers about, and school kids come to that. They get a lot of bad press these days.
Hope you have a good time down here in the south.

  3. I missed the second half of your entry ad I caught it half uploaded!
You really have had a day of kind people. It must be your age. They’re all taking pity on you 😊 Make the most of it, I would.
I hope you managed to get some suitable wood from Hobbycraft. I don’t want to see the furniture crafting coming to a halt as I’m enjoying seeing the stuff your making.
