Summer house excitement!

We knew the summer house was arriving today but not when, so Mike got the pallet up into the space in the wall above the gladioli as I want to make it into a bug hotel. It was heavy and we haven’t got the best selection of tools, but he got it up and it won’t be going anywhere.
I can fill it in with logs and other things and I have another piece of wood like the one in the front garden so I can make a ‘Bug Hotel’ sign to go above it.
Then Mike helped me, well I say helped me,  but he did most of the heavy work, move a mini mountain of stones and boulders to a space under the bay tree. I am intending making this a rockery feature, should look good.
Two lads turned up at lunchtime and got on with assembling the summer house. I will put a few pics, they don’t need much explanation.
Looking good now it is done!

Mike and I caught the bus up to the garden centre where we had a car very for dinner, very tasty again. We looked around and I got some plants for the rockery and to go in the little window boxes on summer house.took one picture while I was there.
I think that is a Michaelmas daisy. They are something I love because I went to St Michael’s primary school and we wore these daisies on his saint day.
When we got back we had a cuppa in the summer house, very exciting!
Let’s finish with fungi today!
Mike has been a great help today, thank you, he will be off back to Peterborough tomorrow.

  1. I’ve enjoyed pottering in the garden, and the boulders were excellent exercise for me 😀 I’ve done a lot of things while I’ve been here, and enjoyed it all. It’s been a great time all together. The time does go quickly though as it doesn’t seem long since I arrived.
Still got tomorrow to look forward too though.
Really pleased I got to see the summer house go up. I think you’ll all get some good use from it. I expect to see lots of sketches of the house and garden from that particular aspect 😀
Thanks to everyone for a nice time.

    1. Good that you got to see a bit of Hornsea and the area, we didn’t find too many chores for you this time! Good weather for your visit which was a real bonus. I will enjoy sorting the bug hotel and the rockery.
