Garden and house day

Apart from going out for a bit of shopping I have had a stay at home and get some chores done sort of day. I did some weeding and hoeing in the front garden first thing and cleared weeds along the side of the house. The garden bin was emptied this morning and noe it is almost full again. Tina and I had a look in the garden deciding where we mat have a summer house. We have a couple of uncared for apple trees, they are fruiting, just hope that they are not all full of maggots.
I got some clearing done in my bedroom as the new bed is arriving tomorrow. I also had a quick run through the house, that kept me busy for a while. Tina bought a large, and rather heavy, framed embroidered picture at the auction she went to at Mirfield. She had mentioned where she thought it would go so put it up. It is very heavy so I used two picture hangers.

I watered the garden this evening, the two cauldrons are looking very colourful now.
I grew some gourd plants from seed, they were very small when I planted them at the top of the banked bed, hoping that they would get big enough to grow down the bank. Well, they have and there are a few gourds developing too.
Hopefully the gladioli behind them will flower before too long, don’t seem to be budding yet though.

  1. I do love the garden. It looks really bright and colourful, and I really with I had an apple tree. Not that I really eat lots of apples, but it’s just a nice thing to have. I hope you’ll be making apple pies. Although it’s nice to have a nice garden, I definitely wouldn’t want the bother, and the large amount of toil it takes to keep it looking good. Good job you’re keen :-) Hope you get lots of gourds and manage to get some to dry out. I’m sure Anya would love a few!
That’s a nice bit of embroidery. I bet that took someone a very long time to do. It’s an unusual size too, but that helps in its case. Perfect for that landing.

  2. Parts of the garden are looking bright and love, so it is good to look at those areas and not worry about all the bits that still need attention! I am hopeful that th apples will be okay and pies and crumbles will be on the menu if they are.
I am really looking forward to getting some gourds, a couple of months for them to develop still, so fingers crossed.

I love the exotic bug hotel and Tina's picture too and all the flowers in the boats etc u do get around.
Why were Tina and Darren at Buckingham Palace?
So your grand daughter graduated. Was that from high school? I hope u had a lovely break, I know it can be tiring rather than relaxing with such a long journey. How was the weather over there.
It is extremely hot in my flat but I have 2 fans and take frozen water bottles to bed with me. Work is going very well now and everything is going smoothly.
I did a buffet for friends from church the other day, I will send u photos by email. I had lots of cheese boards and deli meats and olives. It was great.
My dad is in general OK, the same really, but today he put the water filter on the hob and started a fire, luckily I was here. He can't be left alone now. At least in the nice weather he can enjoy the garden.
Isobel looks lovely, I hope u had a nice visit.
    Love always Julie xxxx
