This morning I was up early and checked the greenhouse and bonsai trees and watered where necessary. Watered the house plants too. I was ready to catch the bus in good time so walked to the post box first which meant passing the church, so took a couple of slightly different views of it.
Caught the bus into Hull and then was on the first train to Sheffield. So that I didn't have an extra change of train I had well over an hour at Sheffield and was able to go outside. It was a lovely day and the station is modern, but outside is quite lovely.
And, to top it all someone playing the piano inside the station!
That stone work was pretty nice too.
Next stop was Tamworth, I love this station on two levels. There was light summer drizzle there so no sun.
I was looking down from the platform on the bridge at the other platforms. The train from Tamworth to Milton Keynes Central was a bit late and the change over time was only 8 minutes if the train arrived on time. Of course, 5 minutes and I had to get across the other side, up one lift, along the walkway and down another lift, the doors were closing as I got to the train but a man inside stood close to it and it opened to let me in. I was hot and stressed and was calling out to anyone who would answer to ask if I was on the right train, it was actually too late if I wasn't! But I was and all was well. Hazel and Brian met me at Hemel station, Hazel had prepared me dinner and we had a nice catch up. Hazel dropped me off at the hotel in time for me to get to my room on the 6th floor this time and see the sunset!
That last one was taken with the low light setting. It was getting quite dark then. So, apart from raising my blood pressure rushing for a train it has been a good journey and a lovely evening.
Love the two shots of the church. Both very different, and excellent colours.
ReplyDeleteSounds like your journey went reasonably well, apart from the mad rush to get your connection. Sheffield does sound a nice place to visit another day when you have a bit more time. All stations should have a pianist, it should be law!
A nice view from your hotel. Really nice skies. The low light one is particularly good. Think that camera was a good recommendation from that young man.
Enjoy your time down south.
The church ones did come out well, Darren and Tina will be glad the bike they chained out there yesterday is still in place.
ReplyDeleteSheffield is a big and quite busy station but very modern and airy, and outside and the pianist were a bonus.
Very pleased with the results from the camera now I have used it in good weather as well as dull!
