Getting ready for Le Tour

This morning I set off reasonably early, dropped a couple of bags of donations at the charity shop and then walked up to the Floral Hall for the monthly U3A meeting. I was a bit early so went to look at the sea.
The Floral Hall and sensory garden are getting into Le Tour spirit.

The speaker at the meeting was interesting, he is a poet who is involved in getting the names of 100 people from or associated with Hull who have achieved great things for the community, the country or internationally. They will have 'cream plaques' to commemorate then and the speaker is writing a 14 line verse for each.
I walked a little way along the front coming home so not surprisingly a couple more sea shots.

Walking back there were houses that had sand bagged as there had been a lot of flood warnings.
I went into the memorial garden to try and get a better picture of the purple crocuses.
Back hope we have some pretty little flowers appearing in the front garden, not sure what they are but a lovely addition.
While I was having lunch the post arrived and I received some Wild and Bloom flowers, the ones that are in a box so that they can be posted through the letter box. They were from Rachel and the gang, and they are lovely. Got to use two of my vases, one made about 40 years ago and the other painted a couple of years ago!
I went into the greenhouse for a bit, planted some more seeds and tidied it up a bit. If you are reading this Anya you will be delighted to hear I have set some gourd seeds. I know how much you loved them when I grew them before!!!
I did mention the leaf wall art we bought a few days ago, took the photo today, they are about the same height as me.
More sorting, have another charity bag filled. Will stop for Holby later.

  1. I presume you took your donations to the charity shop you help out in. If there is more than one charity shop in Hornsea that is?
They do go all out for the bike racing up there. Does it actually pass nearby this time like it did in Scarborough? Some nice seashore shots today. Good clouds. Seems you’ve had a bit of a growing themed day. With all the pics you took while out, and to receive those lovely flowers when you got home. Then into the greenhouse to start off some new growth. The wall art at the end is sort of along the same theme, just made of slightly harder material.

    1. The race is just going along the front, so not along this road. The town are taking it on board though and there is a prize for the best decorated shop window.
There are at least two other charity shops but yes I did donate in the one I work at.
I do like it when the clouds are interesting, but you know that.
