Lovely day at the Humber bridge and country park

Last night I made my way downstairs as I noticed the sky was looking good. Not a lot of colour in the church picture but a different time of day again.

This morning Tina and I set off to the Humber Bridge, one of my favourite places. We had rain on and off on the journey there but once we arrived the weather stayed fine. We were warned it was very windy on the bridge, so windy that they had banned high sided vehicles from going across.

And some views from the bridge.

On the way down.
The sign and the steps down to the country park as we decided to walk to the foreshore and then to the restaurant where we were having lunch.

At ground level on the foreshore.

A chalk mill, that explained the soft stones on the beach and the country park was the quarry. We went on the beach so had to take pics under the bridge!

A view from where I was sitting in the Country Park Inn and the sharing platter we enjoyed.

Then we took one of the trails through the country park back to the car park. Benches.

So many amazing trees.

Ponds.

A silly stump!
More steps to get back to the car park.
Almost there and a last shot of the bridge for today.

Tina got me an apron in the gift shop as a memento, I won't want to get it too greasy! We called in at Sainsbury's and spent some Nectar points and also into Aldi, got a nice planter there, picture another day.
This evening I have been out in the greenhouse, making some plant on pots out of toilet rolls and using some ready made one to do some transplanting.

All in all a lovely day, thank you Tina.

  1. A couple of nice pics to start with. You’re enjoying that low light setting on the camera, I can tell :-)
Some great pics of the bridge, and from the bridge too. The ones from the foreshore are so different too. I’ve only ever seen the bridge when I’ve driven over it, and it really does look different from down below. Some beautiful scenery. It looks as thought it was a great day for taking pics too. Lots of nice clouds and a blue sky. Luckily the howling winds on the bridge don’t show.
The park is a lovely place too. Some really great trees. All in all it looks like you’ve had a great birthday outing, and a nice looking meal as well! It was really nice that Tina had the time off to make it a special day.
Then back home to make things out of old toilet rolls. Perfect ending to the day :-)

  2. A really fabulous day out, I will definitely be trying to get there again, a day with a pack up, a sketch book and reading book, would be perfect.
We would have gone further on the bridge if it hadn't been so windy, but we just walked to the first upright. We fought the wind to get there and nearly got blown off our feet on the way back. Some cyclists went across as we came back, rather them than me!

  3. Hi Jan, what a lovely day, I love the photos of the Bridge, how do they make them to support themselves over large widths of water??
I'm glad u had a good birthday. How are the cats btw and how are you getting on with all that walking with your knee and ankle?
We have just got back from Farnborough and I'm back at work Sunday :( and Michelle had her care client today and is at the gym Sunday. She loves your sky photos and the trees too.
    Love Julie + michelle

  4. Hi Julie, Thank you both for the lovely card. Hope all is well for you both back at work.
I was only thinking yesterday how much the ankle and knee have improved, when we went to Silverstone last year I had to take the crutches, so slowly getting more mobile.
Glad you enjoyed the photos. xxx
