Today has been wet and miserable pretty much continuously, but luckily no snow, so always a bright side! I have started going through clothes and some craft stuff, the charity bags are filling. I did have to nip to the shop as I had used all the potatoes, got myself some flowers when I was there to brighten a very dull day.
The jigsaw of an old map of this area that Anya gave me for Christmas is now on display in the entrance hall. It was a difficult puzzle but well worth the trouble and too nice an image to just put back in the box.
After dinner Tina suggested going to see the sea, there were extensive flood warnings out and it was nearing high tide. We went to the front at Hornsea first.
Then we drove to Mappleton and the view there was breathtakingly lovely in an eerie, wintry way. A lot of pics but took many more, couldn't choose.
Back to sorting now, somewhat chaotic in here!
It’s been miserable here too. I’ve not even stepped out the front door today. The flowers are very bright and cheery. I’m sure they smell great too. Just the job to bring a bit of the outside in.
ReplyDeleteThe map looks a treat on the hall wall. I must say I had my doubts as to whether it’d get finished or thrown out the window. Should have known you don’t give in easily :-)
Does look a tad rough at the seafront. All those negative ions the sea gives off do the the power of good! Mappleton looks a good place to take pics. Bet the loony surfboarders from Scarborough would love it too! Add it to the list of places to revisit on a pleasant day.....if we get any!
As we stood watching the see hitting the cliffs at Mappleton we did wonder how much of them would be washed away, it is a mighty powerful onslaught they receive. The mist rising though made it very atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteThat jigsaw came close to not being finished, but a great map now that it is done and will be good for it to be seen by a few folk now.
I am hoping the rain may have taken it's leave by the morning.
