Flower ball and lawn cutting

Having been sort of set the challenge by Mags on Thursday by suggesting I could cover the polystyrene ball with the paper flowers, I have been  making them like crazy, my thumbs will never be the same again, but this morning it was completed. It may be heading to Mags to display at the craft outlet as I really don't want to be seeing it anymore!

I was getting sorted to go to the shops before 9 am when I saw Rob in the garden, I did go out to see if he thought the grass was dry enough as he had come to mow the lawns. He wasn't sure but is going away for a fortnight so he did them.
He admitted that it could  have done with being drier and he had a lot of raking to do after as the mower kept clogging. But if it has been left another two weeks it would have been really long and with the weather as it is not necessarily dry! It is okay and he will be back in a fortnight when he gets back from holiday.
I wanted to start getting some of the grass out of the flower beds so that we had something to work on with tiller when the ground is drier. I had made a start before I took the photo, use my new wellies and they were getting very heavy with the amount of soil I was collecting!
Only did about another hour after that, but I will try and get some more done tomorrow. The sun did come out for a while this afternoon so providing it doesn't rain it should be a little easier.
I bought a Twist and Shape when we were in Scarborough, it is packed away and has been 'decorating' the sitting room downstairs for too long. So I got the box upstairs and assemble it again in my bedroom. I had thought about selling it, or giving it away, but have now decided that I should try and get some use out of it. Maybe tomorrow.......
I have done a few household chores and the house smelt nice as I put a lamb casserole in the slow cooker this morning.
Casualty later, always a mood lifter!

  1. The flower ball looks great. Worth a bit of thumb ache I think. Once they know you’re up for a challenge you might get some more!
The lawn actually looks nice now it’s cut. It’s very green, or is that the new camera? It certainly seems to handle the colours really nicely.
I would think you got enough exercise humping that thing all the way upstairs. I remember what a pain it was when you put it together last time. After all that effort should should use it, if only for a little while :-)
    Enjoy, if possible, Casualty!

  2. It was surprising how many flowers I needed to cover that ball, it seemed never ending!
The grass is quite green and it survived it's first mowing this year very well.
I did have a little go on the Twist and Shape when I got it assembled just to make sure I had followed the instructions right again.
There may be rain tomorrow but not here until the afternoon I think, so will get out for a while in the morning to get a bit more clearing done.
Casualty now, tissues at the ready!!
