Happy anniversary Darren and Tina

Silver wedding day for Darren and Tina, both off today which was good. We all went to the garden centre for breakfast as I needed some more compost and pots. Got the compost but not pots but I will make do with some seed trays for now so that I can get the pruning of the bonsai trees finished this week. We got some other bits and some slabs for me to dot about the large flower beds when they are ready. Before we went out I had finished off a card I had started at the craft group last night. I learnt how to layer stamps, but probably will just go to the Thursday classes at Freeport now.
When we got home there was a parcel left by the front door, the long awaited rug for my sitting room, nice to see they followed the service through with leaving it outside and not with a neighbour! I have only been waiting for it since November....... Having said that, I really like it so it ended up being worth the wait.
Even more excitement when we got indoors and checked the post as Tina and Darren have been invited to a Buckingham Palace garden party! How nice to receive the invitation on their silver wedding day.
The three of us spent some time in the garden, I wanted to get the bed I has started planting ready for tilling and getting some of the other plants out there. So much ivy and so many tree roots, also lots of cutting back of the bushes.
Tina got stuck in, I worked nearer to where I took the photo, Darren got the shredder out and got through the mountains of stuff we were clearing.

It is hard to tell, but we have got quite a good area ready for tilling.
It wasn't cold but it wasn't sunny either. took a picture of the sky when the sun was thinking of making an appearance.
The single magnolia flowers are almost open, hopefully there will be lots of flowers next year.
Darren and Tina have gone out for a meal this evening, I think they have enjoyed their day.

  1. Happy Anniversary Darren and Tina.
Looks like it was a real hive of activity in the garden today. Three pairs of hands is much quicker, and easier though. It’s looking good. Is the pic of the trees and the sky upside down, or is it my imagination?
Like your new rug. Well worth the wait. The cats will love to curl up on that :-)
Bet D&T are looking forward to the garden party at the palace. It’s a real honour to get invited to one of those. I think the postman must have mislaid mine.

  2. No, it isn't upside down, the branches were overhanging above my head! Does look like I have put it the wrong way though....
I do really like the rug, goes with the room really well too.
Getting the tiller active is the next step in the garden I think.
