I like texture paste!

Last night I looked out of the window, admiring our garden handiwork, saw the sky was looking good and went outside with the camera, this time the sun was catching the side of the church.

This morning I caught the bus up to Freeport, had a drink and sandwich as I was there before the
shops opened, luckily one of the cafes opens early. I took the flower ball into the craft outlet for them to have on display, then six of us learnt how to make texture paste, and in my case how to use it too. A few of the ladies had worked with shop bought paste before. I really like the card I made and will definitely be making more with this technique.
We finished about fifty minutes before the next bus was due, so I decided to walk home as it was a lovely day. This tree lined path near the crematorium was nice to walk along.
I have never had a proper greenhouse before, but had noticed that some of my seedlings had shrivelled up and died. Looked it up and realised that I should have had shading, that obviously has not been an issue up until now. I phoned the garden centre who said they had greenhouse shading. Darren drove me up there and we were truly given the run around with pretty unhelpful staff. I had pretty much given up and was feeling stressed when a young man assistant asked if we had found what we were looking for. He said they sold it off a roll and told us where to head for. No staff around but I eventually found someone to cut a length for us. Then we had to go back to the entrance to track down some fixings. Back home the fixings do fit in some places, but only the central uprights have the grooves in. So a bodge job ensued that took me quite a while, didn't really buy enough either!
Hopefully it will protect them a bit.
May make some different coloured texture paint this evening, will see how I feel. Charity shop in the morning.

  1. I can see the church is going to become your new tv aerial. Someone will probably read that and think “what?” :-) It does look good in different lighting conditions though.
A lovely day to go and have your breakfast out, then a bit of crafting. Love the card. Can see why you want to do more of them. Can you smell the talc once it’s mixed?
The greenhouse getting too hot isn’t really something we have to worry about much, but on a day like this it’s a nightmare. I hope the shading helps and that you’ve not lost too many seedlings :-( Suppose you could have used Windowlene as a temporary measure as in ye olden days!
Hope they have a good fan in the charity shop as it’s supposed to be hot again. Definitely not a day for steaming!

    1. You can use pretty much any stencils and she showed the effects through lace and mesh, lots of possibilities. You can smell the talc a bit, she said we could get say lily of the valley talc and then do a lily of the valley image!
      I did think of whitewashing!

  2. Whitewashing is ok if you remember to do it on the inside :-)
