Yesterday evening I went down to the Swiss Cottage restaurant to make the booking for Darren and Tina's anniversary meal next week. It was just after seven and dusk and misty but went to look at the sea and try the 'low light' setting on the camera. I was surprised how clear they were, even the slightly zoomed one.
We had a very nice meal at Med Mex, after starter and main we had no room for dessert but there was plenty of cake at home for later!
Today has been another grey and cold day. I went out to post some letters and got two cycle locks for Tina. We have a decorated bike in the hall at the moment and she wants to put in outside the church for Le Tour but needed the locks to stop it going walk about!
I did a bit of crafting, and then went to chat to Tina before she went off for her overnight stay and training. I decided to go outside and start pruning the roots of the bonsai trees. A job I always dread as it is messy and fiddly, but I don't worry too much about killing them all off now. Some pictures of just the first tree I did as I was too muddy to use the camera!
I did five trees I think and ran out of compost, but I would have packed up anyway because my fingers were freezing! I have a long way to go as you can see from the number of them on the stands.
I am hoping that I haven't killed them off this time by exposing the roots to such cold air!
The cake I made for Darren yesterday with the marzipan in the middle looked good, but I had made up the recipe and timing so had to test a small slice to see what it was like. Darren had already had a piece last night.
It is really tasty, like a farmhouse texture.
No real plans this evening. I have ordered some bonsai compost in case we have a warmer day over the weekend. I need to sort out my craft stuff now I have begun making a few cards again.
Those pics don’t look bad for that time of evening. I can see you’re liking the new camera.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good evening was had by all at the restaurant. Can’t believe you were too full up for pudding though! Still, cake at home made up for it. Talking of cake, you must send me the recipe of the cake you made with the marzipan in it. It looks delicious, and next time I fall off the wagon, or if I just fancy cake, I’ll make one myself :-)
I know how much you dread the pruning of those bonsai, but you’ll soon have it done. Then you have a couple of years free of it. You definitely need more garden shelving, or less trees, one or the other!
Still waiting to take some pictures in good light, but pleased with the results so far anyway.
ReplyDeleteWe did have a good evening and obviously Darren was thrilled to have photos taken!
Will copy out the recipe and try to remember how long I actually cooked it for.
I will get the trees done as I know it is good for them, it just is a bit of a chore.
Thanks a lot for the blog post. Thanks Again. Keep writing.Botanic Wire
