Winter walk

Well, the snow arrived, maybe not quite as heavy as forecast, but quite a sight first thing.

The sun has dipped in and out during the day, snow showers during the morning and more forecast for tonight.
I wanted to go to the post office, so wrapped up and set out for a winter walk. The flooded park 'pond' was frozen today.
No actual snow on the beach, the sun on the water was striking and the wind pretty cold again!

I didn't want to just walk back into town, so thought I would make it a longer outing and head along the Trans Pennine trail.

Those grasses in that picture were really bending in the wind. I bet this horse had a cold tummy after breakfast!
I carried along, thought of coming down the steps and through to the town, but thought I would see if I could find the path down to the Tesco car park.
This plant looked more red than it had before because of the snow.
I did go down the bank behind Tesco, someone had told me there was a gate, but I couldn't find it and I wasn't prepared to make an exhibition of myself getting through the fence, so went back to the trail!

Then made my way back into town along the main road..
I managed to watch Strike today and enjoyed it. Then I decided to set to and make the chair back ready to embroider. The material and lace work quite well.
But sadly the transfer was feeling it's age! I got some onto the material and marked out a bit more, but it is going to be a challenge to say the least, so may re think the whole idea.
I would normally watch Holby and Shetland this evening but think they may have been changed to tomorrow because of live football.

  1. I think snow looks lovely when you get to see it in your own garden, specially a large one like you have. It untouched by others and isn’t trampled to death before you get any pleasure from it. A real winter wonderland.
A nice little trip out for you, and lots of photo opportunities on your walk. Quite a long walk from the sounds of it. Some really nice pics. I particularly like the one in the middle..ish with the bright blue sky.
Such a shame the pattern didn’t transfer properly for your chair back, but I’m sure you’ll find a way to get it done one way or another.
By the way, it’s not so much climbing through a fence that makes an exhibition of yourself, it’s getting stuck half way that’s the problem :-)

  2. It was a nice walk and not so cold once I was on the trail. The snow has thawed a lot but I think there will be plenty overnight.
I will probably have a go at the embroidery in the daylight. Probably not tomorrow though as I have to go to Hull to a new dentist.
