Colourful tubs

Although my cough is still a little troublesome I went off to the charity shop and hoped it would be okay. Took a picture of the tubs out front, planted then soon after arriving and they are pretty now.

The session at the shop went well, just Elaine, the deputy manager and me today. Spent the whole time out front and used the till quite a lot, also watched Elaine take a couple of card payments. I got a Paul Robeson cd, thoroughly enjoying 'Joshua fit de battle of Jericho' at the moment!
Very cold today and I didn't have a lot of inclination to get exercise, but walked up to Hornsea Freeport. I did get the bus home today, had a big bag of shopping is the excuse I am using. I had a drink at the coffee shop, I was intrigued with how this table was made when I was there before, the pieces look butted together, but the finish is so flat and shiny, I am sure Mike will enlighten me!

I did some batch baking for the freezer when I got in and Darren and Tina has some of the cottage pie for dinner this evening. But some cottage pie and lasagne in the freezer now as well.
I have started reading 'Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine', I think I will find it most enjoyable.

  1. The tubs do look very pretty. It’s good to have a bit of colour in the garden. Makes it into a happy garden.
They joint the wood in that way to use up small pieces that are left over from making other things. It’s for no other reason, just to get more out the wood to make more money. If you look around you will find lots of things in the shops made that way. A lot of the time they are painted or veneered over so you don’t see it. Clever really. You can buy 3x2 lengths of timber from most diy places that is put together this way, and boards to make your own furniture.
Sounds like you’ve had plenty of exercise today, and you are allowed to catch a bus occasionally you know :-)

  2. I did think that it was a way to use up the odd pieces of wood but good to get the explanation.
It is good to get some colour in the garden, there are daffodils coming up so some more colour on the way.
