Skies and stormy sea

The sky got even more impressive last night, so a few more shots.

Tina was in after sunset but drove us down to the front anyway to see the fading day.

Mike's birthday today, not any pics during the day, I will explain. It has tipped down with rain all day and it has been pretty chilly as well. Mike and I had breakfast at the cafe on North Marine Road and then caught the bus into town. From York Place we walked to the mobility centre where I hired a scooter out for the day. As an aside, the price has now gone up to £5 a day, so I signed up at just the right time! We made our way down to the south bay, looked in some shops and had a coffee, getting wetter by the minute. We came up on the cliff lift, not as straight forward as the lady at the mobility place suggested, three attempts and it was catching, so I had to get off and we pushed it one! From there we made our way to the ceramic studio, still in torrential rain. The dogs were in the window, but Sandy got them out for us to look at properly.

They are back in the window now. The salad servers came out really well, I have left them at the studio for now, but they will be coming home with me before too long.

When Darren got home he said that there was a warning of high tides and flooding and he offered to take us down to have a look. It has been rougher but it was grey, cold and wintry.

This evening Tina and Darren took us out to dinner at Scalby Manor to celebrate Mike's birthday. A very nice meal and good atmosphere and company.

We finished off here at home with a nice cake, Tina and I singing of course! Despite the weather I think Mike has had a good birthday.

  1. For once I can actually say that I have some similar sunset photos to those! It looked just as spectacular in person. The trip around the bays with Tina made a good end to the day too, and more photo opportunities. Made me want to go out and take more photos myself, which is a good thing.
Today has been a great day, even allowing for the totally torrential rain. Jan and I had a good chuckle this morning, plus lots of hot drinks and cake. I got a couple of bits I wanted from a very eclectic shop I like on South Bay too. After a brief stay at home the trip to the front with Darren was fun, and wet, but that was the days theme! Also gave Jan the chance for a few more megabytes of pictures (in joke).
The meal out this evening was also fun and the food was lovely. The birthday cake was a nice surprise when we got home too. All in all it's been a lovely birthday for me, made special this year by the Scarborough clan. Thanks all, had a really great time :-)

  2. Really pleased that you had a good day, it was fun with quite a lot of laughs despite the weather trying to 'rain on your parade'! Maybe we will get a wander in the dry today, fingers crossed.
