As the title suggests, the rain stopped over night, it was grey and pretty chilly this morning but the sun came out for a while this afternoon.
Mike and I had breakfast up the road again and then we caught the bus into town. Went straight to the mobility centre where I hired out a scooter again. Mike wanted to go to the cheese shop on Dean Road but it was closed this week which was a shame. So we made our way down to the sea via the park. I am getting used to using the scooter but when the camber is steep I don't actually feel that safe! The bay was looking grey and the wind was really quite chilly, like an autumn day.
One if Mike at that spot and one of him taking pictures a bit further along, as we made our way right round the headland.
Not many people on beach but there were paddling gulls!
When we got along to the south bay I was quite cold as I had been sitting and Mike was quite hot as he had been walking! Haven't taken pictures of the harbour lately.
Lots of people were taking pictures of the truck with a caravan fixed on the back.
One of the lighthouse as we went along.
We had lunch at the Tunny Club and then decided to get back to the town going up the path near the Grand Hotel. A bright butterfly and a view looking down at the bay when we were on the way up.
Then different views of The Grand and the castle.
We made out way back into the town, had a drink and then took the scooter back to the mobility centre. On the way to the bus I took this picture of some colourful leaves.
We caught the bus home and had a quiet afternoon as we were off to the YMCA to see a production of Sister Act. It was a great show, we got a taxi there as Darren and Tina were both out, but Darren kindly came and collected us when it was finished. Better weather and another good day.
The breakfast at the cafe is always good. If I lived nearby I'd be in there every day, so maybe a good job I don't. But it does set you up for a good day. The weather was so much kinder to us, but as you say a bit chilly to start with. I should have been a gentleman and offered my coat as I was getting warm anyway, but we soon warmed up a bit more after a nice lunch with the sun showing it's face. All in all another very nice day again. This evening was brilliant! The show was sooooo good tonight too, I thoroughly enjoyed it. They were all great in it. Another nice treat for my birthday. I've been really spoiled this year, and can't thank you enough for organising it all and then putting up with me dragging you around town! You'll be glad of the peace tomorrow evening. Thanks too to Darren and Tina for putting me up, and for running me about. You've all made an old man happy......and I'm really old now so I must be really happy too :-)
ReplyDeleteWe are pleased that you have had a good birthday and enjoyed your trip 'up north'. Also good that you have started taking photos again as you have take some great ones in the past. The show was excellent and a great way to round off your trip.
