I was up early today and got some washing done and hung up before catching the 8.53 am bus to town. I wrote three letters and made a detailed list of things I needed in town before I headed out. Thus, the title today, as I left them all indoors! I did manage to remember everything though and went into the Cushion Flex shoe shop because I really need a comfortable pair of shoes that are okay for the summer but not sandals. I noticed this pair and they looked a generous fit. They are, and I actually kept them on while I shopped and then on the bus home, with no real problems of rubbing.
I am trying to do a bit of sorting every day, and it was raining hard by the time I got home so I wasn't tempted to go out. I bought some bamboo coasters a while ago with the idea of doing some pyrography on them. Started this flower today, the coaster was coated so I was melting it with the tool. I sanded it and tried again.
I varnished it with the spray lacquer and it looks pretty good now.
While I had the tool out I thought I would decorate one of these very cheap little photo frames that I bought at The Works.
I am not sure whether to add a bit of colour to it, or maybe just varnish.
This evening I was Tina's 'body guard' again at a wedding rehearsal. she had appointments this afternoon so Darren dropped me off at the church on his way to his club. I took a couple of pictures of the south bay from the churchyard.
I like this one of the church, may be a subject for a wood burning picture.
I sat and started a pencil drawing inside the church. Not the easiest of subjects, maybe I will do some more to it if I am back up another time.
Tina dropped me off home before she went back to church for choir practice. It is a beautiful evening after a pretty miserable day.
They look a very comfy pair of shoes, and if they work ok with the ankle too then that's a definite bonus.
ReplyDeleteI really like both pyrography pieces. The bamboo coaster had come up extremely well with the varnish on it. Im guessing the varnish will protect it enough so you can actually use it as a coaster too. The little photo frame looks so much different to what it did plain. Personally I'd probably add a little bit of primary colour to it, but not a lot. Hopefully the varnish won't make it run though. The photo of the church from that particular angle would make a great subject for another pyro project too. You must have a VERY long list by now of things to do :-) Then you just slip in a quick drawing of the arches inside the church..........
Got to keep my hand in before I lose the plot completely! Tina read that doing word puzzles is supposed to ward off dementia so she thinks Darren and I will be okay!
ReplyDeleteI think a building for my next bigger pyro project.
