I will begin with a collection of photos from the day out yesterday.
As I was checking photos yesterday evening I could see the changing sky.
I had planned to have an easy day today, that has changed somewhat! The lawns were reaching jungle proportions, didn't take before and after pics, but take my word for it that the garden waste bin is now about half full of grass cuttings. Whilst emptying one box of cuttings I heard the door bell. Ever thought you should just pretend you imagined something? It was the man to read the metres. I said 'Oh wonderful'!! The electric metre wasn't too bad it is in the cupboard in the hall, but the gas metres are in the porch which meant moving a collapsible bike, a hand mower, roof rack rails and garden tools as well as a collection of tools! He helped me move them out but I put them all back. He said as he was leaving that he wasn't surprised I had rolled my eyes when he said who he was!
When I was clearing away after doing the lawns I saw that the roof over the tool cupboard not oly had weeds on it but a flowering buddleia!
I came in for a cuppa and a rest but really couldn't leave it once I had seen it. Best not to ask how the roof now looks like this!!
It needs a bit more attention, but I did get the roots out of the drainpipe and flushed it out with hot water.
I went down to the surgery when I had cleaned myself up and made an appointment to see the doctor and see if the x-ray shows anything. First appointment isn't until the 12th September. They are booking in flu jabs as well so did that while I was there. Then I went to the shop, got one of their meal deal offers and took a slow walk up to the cliff top to eat it there. There was a speed boat enjoying the calm sea.
After a cool start it had been a nice morning, over the castle it was still bright but over the Sealife Centre at the other end of the bay you could see the bad weather approaching.
I thought I would make my way home as I had washing out on the line. Passed the front garden at the top of the road that has fabulous sunflowers.
I got back and the washing in before the rain arrived. Haven't done a lot since then as I have been feeling quite tired. It has brightened up now, so maybe there will be sunset shots tomorrow.

Day trip to Hornsea
Lovely sky again last night, been spoilt with them lately despite the days not being so sunny.
Today Tina and I set off early as she had a meeting in Hornsea and offered to take me along for the ride. She dropped me off before 9 am at the front and I had a coffee sat near this very attractive water feature.
It was a bit drizzly,, but I took some pictures along the front.
I did a quick pen sketch sitting on the steps by the rails in the third one, I will put that at the end of the post with one I did later.
There is a little green area on the way to the town centre with a lovely war memorial and a great old park bench.
Into the town and I thought I would go and see what the museum was like, looked quite a small building but worth a try.
How wrong I was, it was quite large and that house this side of the entrance was full of cabinets of Hornsea pottery after you had seen the rest. I took about a hundred photos so won't obviously post them all. Some of the rooms, Victorian theme.
I had to try a hat on from the dressing up box!
More rooms.
Some of the workshops outside in the grounds.
I loved this large corn dolly anchor.
There was a row of shop fronts before you went in to look at the pottery.
I will post a few more museum pictures tomorrow, I still have the visit to the St. Nicholas church to write about. An impressive building and luckily open today so that I could go inside.
One of the windows and the very large church organ,
The steps up to the bell tower looked like they would be quite a challenge.
I wandered back to the sea and something or someone had made the seagulls lively.
I did another pen sketch at the museum, so have photographed the two together.
We had a good journey home and called in to Mr Moos for a very nice, and big ice cream. I walked more than I have in a while, taking it very easily, and although the ankle is a bit sore now and I have a blister on my little toe, I have really enjoyed the day.

Sky, flowers and pottery
I said last night that I had been taking more photos as the sky coloured as the sun disappeared.
I have heard and seen the geese quite a bit lately, must be getting towards migration time. I grab the camera, but rarely in time, so this picture, although not in focus, is going on the blog!
Although Sandy has now moved out of the town she said she would pick me up to take me to the studio this morning. We had rain overnight so the flowers were looking fresh. This gladioli was bent so I sort of guessed when taking the photograph. I have planted quite a lot but most of them aren't budding.
The hollyhock has been lovely , such a deep colour.
I have three different nasturtiums but this one is the only one with the variegated leaves, very attractive and they have self sown.
I cleaned and filled the paint pots at the studio, they had been busy last week so a lot of them were on the verge of being empty. I collected two plates that I had painted a couple of years ago now, always did like the water lily one.
The pottery 'canvas' using the dried bits of paint from the pots was ready to be collected. Apart from having pink in the clouds and the foam, which was unintentional it has worked quite well. I am very careful when collecting the dried paint, but not the only one who ever does it, and when it is dry the pale pink is not a lot different to the white!
This afternoon Tina has an appointment in town and offered to take me in if I wanted to have a bit of a wander around. I managed pretty well, walking very slowly and not for too long. I bought a pair of backless sandals as the ankle is at the point where it does't want anything touching it again! Been there and done that already........ I caught the bus home and yippee, the new bus pass works!
The gladioli had dried and is really very beautiful, so thought it was worth another shot.
Listening to Don Williams at the moment, but have Holby and the final part of Trust Me later.
