Still early, before nine, I went out into the back garden and started clearing an area which has been quite neglected, so there had been brambles, nettles and of course bluebells. So had to did some bits out, although they haven’t got very big yet. Other than that some hoeing and I did get a couple of bargain plants from the other day into the bed. Two views from before and another two after.
There are a lot of forger me nots on the bank which will look much better when they flower without the nettles and brambles.
I had a nice chat with Anya and showed her the biscuit that came with the flowers later, it is gone now!
When Tina was home from church I went with her to collect the take away afternoon teas she h ad ordered from the little cafe on the front. A chance to get a quick look at the sea!
The teas were amazing, beautifully presented and so much food. We won’t need to be eating anything else today! This was mine, in the packing and with the to removed.
This afternoon Darren drove me up to Freeport so that I could do a bit of shopping at Pound Stretcher. He drove back by the sea as well so another glimpse. Quite busy on the front today.
I ordered a book I had read about called ‘The Lost Words’, written with children in mind but appreciated by adults. It has the most glorious illustrations.
I absolutely love it, my Mothering Sunday gift to myself!
Well a long day but a pleasant one from the sounds of it. Out in the garden early for a cup of tea and a bit of wildlife photography is a great way to start the day. The squirrel certainly looks a happy chappy, and appears to be enjoying his breakfast.
ReplyDeleteYou really shouldn’t have been gardening on Mother’s Day, it doesn’t seem right. Certainly made a difference though. With it coming along so nicely I can see why you want to get out there as much as possible to get it finished. Not that there will ever be a finish point I suppose.
Glad you managed to get out for a couple of trips today as well. It does look a bit quiet on the seafront, but that’s a good thing in these times.
The afternoon tea looks amazing. I really fancy one of those myself. I can see why you’re not going to want much else today.
I really like the illustrations in your new book. It looks way too good for kids 😊
All in all a nice Mothering Sunday. Soon be Easter!
It has been a long day but really enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThe afternoon teas were amazing and very tasty.
The book is delightful.
Maybe a bit more gardening tomorrow.
