Today is Sarah’s birthday and they picked me up to got to Drewton’s Farm Shop and Restaurant near the village of South Cave. It was about an hours drive. We had a look round the farm shop and had a very nice meal in the restaurant. Nice countryside and building but not overly photogenic!
It was a hot journey on the way back and we did hit some traffic so I cooled off a bit indoors and then went down the road to look for something to put the water feature on. The blackbirds and squirrels have decided it is a great place to come and have a bath or drink but it is on the patio and very vulnerable to stalking cats! I looked in the factory shop but nothing suitable. I had spotted one of the physio chairs for working at a sink as I passed the charity shop, it seemed as if it might do the job! Even better when I was told I could have it for three pound! It is ideal and pretty sturdy so hopefully it will give the birds a fighting chance of drinking or bathing without being caught!
I got both garden watered and then Tina and I got the water feature working again as it had stopped. It had got blocked, probably a snail went up the spout! Then we had take away, so better have a good eating day tomorrow!
Coming upstairs I could see that it had been a good sunset, still a bit of colour in the sky.
Watching a Vera now.
Cats are weird, they always seem to prefer the most precarious places to sit! I think they are just way too lazy to move.
ReplyDeleteLovely blue skies for your pictures while you were out, but as you say not the most photogenic buildings. A nice meal definitely makes up for that though. Not really the weather today to be stuck in the car for too long. Thank heavens for air-conditioning.
Hope the Heath Robinson approach to your problem with the water feature makes it safer for the local wildlife. Plus you have the bonus of being able to use it as a seat when your knees both finally give out! 😊 You should get your £3 worth out of it!
Good luck with the better eating day tomorrow. Although you probably sweated off more calories than you’ve taken in in the heat we had today.
Nice picture to end with.
The cats in this house are definitely weird!
ReplyDeleteIt was good to go out and celebrate Sarah’s birthday with them, felt almost ‘normal’. The roads were pretty busy.
Fingers crossed that the birds will be a little less at risk, perhaps they are attracted to the running water. As you say, dual purpose chair as well!
Glad I caught the tail end of the sunset.
