New year dip in the North Sea!

This morning I just pottered around, fed birds etc and made sure I had everything ready to go for the midday dip!
Pandora was stalking and then chasing a crow, think more cat bells are on the shopping list now!
June picked me up about 11.40 am, called for another lady and then we went and parked near Jacky’s house. Got changed there so actually had to walk to the Insure boat house on costume and there were already a good group of spectators gathering. We registered and were kept in a large shed for a while, getting instructions and exercises just before they opened the doors and we followed the crew down to the sea. So many people so I didn’t spot the family and they couldn’t see me, but did get some pics with glimpses of me. These on the way down.

Then in the sea and getting out!

With Jacky and still smiling!
Anya didn’t see me in the sea, took this one of me after in my bath robe on the beach!
Nearly two hundred people went into the water and they reckon there were about four thousand spectators!
I got the Victorian suit off but kept my swimming costume on and walked back with the family. Had a hot chocolate and we got chips, the queues for both were very long with so many people around!
Isobel tried the hat on!
When the family headed home I had a nice bath as I had got a bit chilled by the time I got home.
Had a quiet afternoon and we went to the Indian restaurant for tea. The food was really good but the wait was almost an hour and we were first through the door!

  1. Well that’s a day you won’t forget in a hurry! Not sure what’s worse, going into the freezing cold sea or having to walk there in a Victorian bathing costume? 😊 I like the fact they kept you all in a large shed before they let you into the sea. It didn’t by chance have a big sign outside that said “Asylum” did it? 😀Considering the crowds you did well to end up with some reasonable pics of you there. The bathrobe on the beach was a good look too.
All for a good cause though and a bit of fun, plus chilblains and pneumonia! Bet you can’t wait until next year comes around.
Tea out at the Indian restaurant was a good idea too. A nice hot curry to warm you up from the inside out.

The crew and volunteers were delighted with the turn out today.
It was good that Anya nad family stayed, even if they didn’t spot me!
