Pottery Camp update

I will start with a few of the earlier pictures, when we went to have dinner on Monday night I was quite taken with the handles on the back of the chairs to make them easier to pull out. They looked like old fashioned cupboard handles.
I had the traditional cloudy lemonade that they made there, boy was it sharp!!
Next morning here we were arriving at the pottery camp, I was a little apprehensive as I had not been before and didn't know anybody, Sandy has been several times and knew everybody.

Here were the stages of the first project, it will look quite different when it is fired.

47 people doing this camp, so pretty hectic!
We stayed for the meal at the end of the day, and as we were starting earlier today we went to bed at 10.30 pm. We were rudely awakened by the fire alarm at 1 am, it only went for a few rings so didn't have to go out, but nearly scared us out of out skins! We found out this morning that someone had been smoking in their room.
This morning we were putting various colours on the three heart shapes. You will not believe what these look like when they are fired!
Quite enjoyed working on the final project, Sandy and I left early to get home so we will finish them off at the studio.
The journey home took about six hours, but all in all a good trip, quite tired now and should sleep well tonight!

  1. Didn’t realise there would be so many people there. Thought it would just be a few. Don’t think I’d have coped with that many. Looks like you had a good time though. Love the pic of you and the lemonade moment :-)
Can’t wait to see it all fired, specially the paperweight.
Bet the smoker at the hotel was popular. I think they charge £100 to have the room cleaned if you smoke in it. Serves them right!
You won’t take a lot of rocking tonight to get to sleep. Hopefully you’ll have an easy day tomorrow.

    1. Meant to say, those handles are drawer pulls. Very good idea.

  2. The numbers were a little overwhelming and it was hot as well! But quite an experience and I am looking forward to seeing the finished articles, but they won't go in the kiln until next Wednesday. They fired the fairy houses for us, but at the moment that is still in Sandy's car!
    Should sleep well tonight.
