I didn't sleep very well and have been on a bit of a downer with the on going ankle and knee situation, so wasn't really in the mood for travelling anywhere today. On reflection I cancelled the trip next week to Chester as I am not as mobile as I had hoped I would be and it is a pretty long journey as well. The lady was lovely and has said she will fit me in when I am feeling better. Tina took me to the station which was a good start. The first train was very busy and noisy, but I managed to store my case and had a seat. I had plenty of time at York, spotted this Network Rail carriage that I presume transports workers and equipment to where the work is needed.
Don't think I have noticed one before. The lifts are now in a different place, a new subway has been opened and there was a lady down there sweeping and keeping it looking good, I wonder how long that will last. The second train was also packed and I had nowhere to put my case safely to start, so although I had a booked seat I spent the first twenty minutes or so standing by one of the doors. Then a lady was getting out at Doncaster and my case went into the rack where she removed hers. My seat had not been taken so was okay for the rest of the journey and it was the quiet coach.
Mike met me at the station and we got a taxi to his flat. He made a very nice lunch of meat sandwiches and had made yum yums which were lovely/ We had a good catch up and plenty of talking. While he was making a drink I took a picture of a great 'touch lamp' that he had made from an old blow torch. Very clever.
Rachel came and collected me from Mikes and we have done lots more talking! We had fish and chips for tea and have not long come up to bed.
My mood has lifted throughout the day and I am sure it will be an enjoyable weekend.
It was lovely to see you today and to catch up with a long chat. I was sad to hear you’d cancelled Chester, but I do understand why. I think you made the right decision. There’ll be other times you can go when you’re feeling better in yourself.
ReplyDeleteI hope this weekend goes ok for you at least, and you don’t suffer too much with the ankle. But I know you’re not that lucky at the moment :-(
Rachel will make you chuckle, so that’ll help a bit :-)
It was a good start to the trip and I enjoyed the long relaxed catch up.
ReplyDeleteWe have had some laughs already and I am sure there will be more before the weekend is done.
