Funky tree and skies

I will start with a few more pictures from the outing yesterday. I will put the funky tree again, but also a close up of the carving inside the opening and the sculpture on the top.

Also one of Isobel pumping water.
I had a pleasant and restful evening with Rachel and Skip and actually slept quite well last night, we had wandered around a lot during the day. Rachel took me to the station on her way to work, as I had over an hour to wait I had a drink and sausage sandwich in Waitrose. Quite attractive clouds as I waited for the train on the platform.
The journey home was fairly uneventful, I had trouble staying awake, but both of the trains terminated at my destination so it wouldn't have been a problem if I had really gone to sleep. Tina met me at the station, she hadn't had time to get milk and basics at the weekend so we had soup at Sainsbury's and did a mini shop. We had the really odd red sun and strange coloured sky but I didn't have the camera to hand.
This afternoon I have unpacked but not done a great deal more than that. The sky cleared and I took a photo of the sun going down leaning out of the window a bit. Now winter is almost here I don't get a good view of the sun from my windows.

I walked up to the cliff top to see if I could see any better, not a great view but a few more pics.

The sky was just slightly pink near the castle.
Going to get instructions from Tina soon, as a firm are coming to quote for removals tomorrow.

  1. I do love that funky tree. Maybe I haven’t been to Belton House before as I thought, because if I had I’m sure I would have remembered that.
Glad your time in Peterborough went well, and your trip home actually sounded very relaxing. I think the constant motion of the train makes you feel sleepy, in a pleasant way. I think I have a selection of background train sounds that are supposed to lull you to sleep. Might give it a try tonight!
Shame you didn’t get any pics of the red sun. I was hoping you would as I didn’t have access to a camera at the time. Pity as it doesn’t occur that often :-( At least you got some nice sunset ones this evening. Worth the walk up to the seafront.

  2. Yes, was a bit sad to miss something so rare, but never mind. Getting very rough outside now and it isn't supposed to be too bad this side of the country.
The detail in that tree was great and very unusual.
