Goodbye for now Peterborough clan ☹️

This morning I decided to get a bit of work done in the front garden while waiting for the family to return as they had to be out of the accommodation by ten. I ended up working on one of the side beds at the front for about an hour and managed to cut back a lot of dead stuff, so it looks a bit tidier now.

When the family arrived Isobel wanted to see the sea again and pay another visit to the arcade, so the six of us went down to the sea front. A good spell in the arcade, I gave up first and took this picture of planks as I headed to the cafe!
Much better weather today.
A bit of a walk by the sea then, the tide was in and Anya, Louis and Isobel were enjoying the waves splashing but managed not to get wet.

Back at the house they had a cuppa and snack before heading off for home. They are safely back in Peterborough now.
It was very mild out today so I went and sat in the summer house for a while with a hot chocolate and my puzzle book. Will get tidying that back garden soon.

I had a jigsaw puzzle for Christmas, it will not be an easy one as a big area of pale blue, but it is a great picture. I managed to fine all the edge pieces but one, and have at least got that bit done.

Quite a full day

I had an appointment to see a nurse again at the cottage hospital at ten past nine this morning. A different lady but very pleasant who said it seems to be healing okay and the pain could be nerve pain which may fade, but it was worth phoning the hospital and tell them about it, so I will do that. From there I went straight to Anya’s holiday home and we chatted for a while before coming round for the car and collecting Darren to go to the garden centre. We enjoyed looking at all the Christmas decorations, which are now reduced but we weren’t tempted.

We had lunch there and arranged to meet up with Tina at Sewerby Hall. We went to the zoo first as it closed early. A selection of much reduced numbers of photos.

Then off on a virtual dinosaur hunt!

A few other pics before we came home.

I had tea with Anya and family at their place and then Anya and I came back and had a game of Ticket to Ride and a couple of games of Rummy with Darren and Tina. Anya also set up my new Fitbit. Darren walked her home and we will see the family for a while on the morning before they head home. Feeling ready for bed now!

More family time

Another mixed day and good to be with the family. I had breakfast with Anya at their digs then when everyone was ready we came into the town. Louis and Isobel went off to the sea and the arcade and Anya and I went back to their place and played a game of Rummy. We had lunch there and then we came back here for the car and Tina as we went off to Flemingate in Beverley. We all went to Art and Soul and Anya, Louis and Isobel all really liked it there. After that they went off into Beverley and Tina and I went for refreshment and bought some stuff in Baytree Interiors. They had a buy one get one free on Christmas decorations. I fell in love with the globes with lights in and Tina spotted a lantern that was the same price. When we got to the till they had both been reduced and I still got one free!

When we went up to collect the car the weather had changed and we were greeted with a great sky.

Message to Mike from Tina, wanting you to enjoy so many lampposts!
After dinner we had a couple of games of Rummy, that has been a real hit.
Bit of tv now and then off to bed. Seeing the nurse in the morning to have the wound checked again. If the weather is a bit better we may go to Sewerby tomorrow.

Family fun

I went round to spend a bit of time with Anya at their accommodation before we set off late morning to Freeport. We spent a while going in the outdoor shops trying to find a suitable coat for Isobel to wear to school. Then we went and had some lunch. We looked in a few more shops and stopped by the giant spider before going into the pottery painting shop.
We all painted and it was fun. I will collect the items when they are done so will be able to post pictures then. Some action pics and one of my finished, very cute little duck!

When we got home Anya and I had a game and then the six of us went to Lily’s Fish and Chips.
Four of us had a game of Rummy, with tiles not cards, before we all went and watched Worzel Gummidge.
Quite a full day and very enjoyable, but the fact that my hand has been going dead quite regularly during the day it doesn’t bode too well for a good nights sleep. But regardless we will have another good day tomorrow.

Getting ready for company

Apart from feeding birds and nipping to the shop for milk (no milk delivery today), I have been in. Looking forward to seeing Anya and family, getting dinner prepped and keeping the cats away from the dining room!
Couldn’t have been very with it when I went out early to feed the birds as I thought I would take a Misty morning photo, had really meant it to be out of focus, but somehow it is okay!
Coming back to the house a sight that didn’t start the day well. It wasn’t windy so I think a cat must have jumped on it!
Luckily the actual planter wasn’t damaged but it had been raining and it was a really messy job getting it back up. And sadly I couldn’t find most of the tiny bits of bun moss that I had brought back from the abbey.
Anya, Louis and Isobel arrived soon after three. Had a cuppa and chat and then went to get sorted in there accommodation while I got dinner cooked. After dinner we opened presents and I have a new Fitbit that I can keep on when I start swimming again.
Pandora has been very unsettled, locked out of the dining room and extra people to contend with.
Normal service is now resumed as the family have gone to their holiday home.

Quiet day, nice memory

An easy going day today, suiting me at the moment as the short nights means I am a bit more tired than usual. It was cold and wet when I went out to feed the birds early, it makes my day as the blackbirds gather to wait for me to scatter the food. There must be a dozen or more and I do love the blackbirds. Darren asked if I would like to go out for a coffee. Checked Freeport would be open and we went there. The little coffee shop wasn’t open, and some stores were open, others closed. We walked up to the top end near Polly’s Path and the cafe there was open so we had a nice coffee in there. We didn’t go into Pound Stretcher but we did go in The Gift Company. I got the silliest and cutest fairy, here she sits with some little pottery whales that I got from Tina and Darren for Christmas.
I have watched ‘Some Like it Hot’ this afternoon and have been doing some crosswords while listening to Ed Sheeran. I did get a load of washing done and a bit of hoovering, but on the whole pretty idle.
So I will add a couple of pictures taken at this time of year but three years ago, obviously took a late trip to Scarborough.

There is a new Death in Paradise this evening which we all enjoy.

Hoping you have had a happy Christmas

Darren and I went to the late service last night, not a large congregation but a lovely service nonetheless. Tina had been taking several services during the day including at a care home and carols in the memorial garden. This morning Pandora sat by the mini Christmas tree, it was dark but she looked cute there.
Tina was given flowers for her birthday at the first service this morning so I got them into the purple jug, very pretty.
Tina was at church, Darren was busy and I had no dinner to get so I went out to do a bit of tidying in the garden for a bit. There was a cart full of rubbish that I took up to the garden bin and noticed the fungi on a tree stump.

The little tomato greenhouse has torn and broken and now tipped over, so quite a mess in the corner of the walled garden.
Pandora was out keeping an eye on proceedings.
Didn’t spend too long outside but it is a bit tidier now.
We opened presents before dinner, I had some nice bits but particularly like this set of 10p coins, quite difficult to photograph, but quite stunning.
Tina had just ordered two of the delivered Christmas dinners this year and that made just the right sized dinners for the three of us.
A brief catch up with the American branch of the family and quite a bit of tv this afternoon.
I won’t be too late to bed as the hand is still giving me trouble at night and I am getting tired. May have to start taking daytime naps to compensate!
