Unexpected trip out

Last night I had a go at felting again, this time a squirrel, had to alter the face as it looked like Basil Brush to start with!

This morning was very frosty and a lot of it hasn’t cleared all day.

This afternoon Tina and I went to Mr Moo’s for lunch and then, as it was a lovely day, Tina took us for a drive in the countryside. We stopped at Barmston and had a look at the sea from a different viewpoint.

Then we went to Lissett and stopped at this great memorial. There is a wind farm in the airfield and they all have crew members names.

Then we stopped at Burton Agnes where there is a great duck pond.
We had to stop at lights on the way home, they are laying a now footpath along the side of the road.
We had a drink at the garden centre as we were passing, next time I go somewhere I can have tea or coffee as today is the last day of my water challenge.
We did come through some fog at the latter part of the trip but yesterday but you can see from the photos that mostly it was a lovely weather afternoon.

Frosty morning

I had some things to do in town this morning so set off quite early. The garden waste bin had been emptied and when I got it in I noticed the Jack Frost patterns on the lid. I remember a time when we had patterns like that on the inside of our windows, those were the days!
This poppy on the side of the lawn was sparkling in the sunlight, the photo doesn’t do it justice, and the snowdrops are blooming all over the place!

After lunch I did go into the garden for an hour or so, the back garden this time. I did see the robin a couple of times so he is still about. I decided to clear some of the ivy at the back again, had to cut down some and r move other branches to get to the ivy. The photos don’t make it too easy to see what I did as the sun had mov round and it made a big difference. But, I filled the pink truck three times and the newly emptied garden waste bin is now full again!

One of the ongoing jobs, one of many!
I got a great little gift from my sister in law Hazel today, it really couldn’t be more perfect!
I got an amaryllis for Christmas and it has now overtaken the coffee plantation! The flowers should open soon.
Tina has just called me as the lights in the fairy garden are on, there has been a lot of sun today.

Garden centre buys

A short entry today, it has been really cold and apart from a trip to the garden centre and a quick walk to the shop I have been indoors pottering.
I had a nice wander round the garden centre within Tina and a friend had a catch up over a cuppa. I did get more bulbs, but not on offer, so they don’t need to go in until March at the earliest. I just thought a bed prepared and these mixed in together will be very striking.
There are so many garden ornaments these days, very expensive some of them too. There deer would look good in the right garden.
I bought this pack of tall primulas as they were quite cheap, maybe past their best but they should pick up when I get them in and they will grow year after year.
When I wandered to where the garden water features were they had one called ‘playful otters’ which I had seen at another garden centre. They had one in stock so that was a bigger spend than I had anticipated. Not a great picture as the box is in the garden store, will obviously put a better one on when it is unpacked and on the patio.
So, nothing else to say today, looking forward to Holby later.

Just stunning!

Quite a lot of photos and not a lot of chat today I think. Yesterday evening, after sorting, I finished a couple of cards off.
This morning I went for a walk, had a couple of errands to do for Tina and it was a lovely morning but icy. I used the overshoes to start with but had a pair of trainers on and not my boots and they kept slipping and making it awkward to walk so abandoned them in the end and picked the sunny sides of the roads! The water is beginning to gather again around the trees in the park, it will soon be like a lake again.
When I got up to the seafront it was just stunning today with the sun and the direction of the wind making the waves look like horses manes.

I walked along to the Inshore Lifeboat station, took a couple more pictures, the second one looked like the winter weather was on the way on the horizon!

On the way home another unusual sky photo.
A package arrived today containing two solar garden decorations I had ordered. I have put them either side of the summerhouse.
I did about half an hour weeding in the front garden but didn’t take photos.

Empty market and trip to the sea.

The market was back again today and Darren and I presumed that the boot sale was on as well. But it doesn’t restart until next week. We were a bit early for the market but the cafe was open so we had our usual sandwich. Only a few stalls were open today which was disappointing but good for the purse! Darren is away next weekend so it will be a couple of weeks before we go again. It was a lovely sky and th morning stayed good.

As we weren’t there long Darren drove to the sea front and we had a drink at the dog walker cafe. Some similar shots but a great sea today.

I know they are similar, but I couldn’t choose between them! Then one facing the other way.
I did get out into the garden for an hours weeding as although it was pretty cold it was bright and rain and worse weather is forecast. I was going to make a start at the corner of the bed at the front of the garden nearest the road.
I noticed that the crocuses have appeared in the tubs out the front, that was lovely to see.
I did a bit more than I planned to do so that was good.
We have had dinner and will watch Vera later.

Sorting and gardening

I seem to have been busy today but don’t have a great deal to show for it.
This morning I went out to do a bit of shopping and got some storage boxes from the Factory shop, as I am still determined to get my craft stuff into some sort of order.
I have been neglecting the front garden, to be truthful it is depressing me the mount of weeds everywhere and weeding is the hardest part of gardening for me. But I spent a couple of hours and have managed to tidy up the fairy garden. I didn’t take a before photo but take it from me it was full of little weeds!
When I was sorting a found a couple of bits for the fairy garden and as luck would have it I had a spare paving slab!
Nothing much else to say today, have v started filling the new boxes!
Dinner is eaten and cleared way, so a bit of tv now I think.

More felting

I knew I was booked onto a felting class today and as they have always been in the morning before I got ready with the idea of calling at the post office on the estate on my way there. Ten minutes into my walk I remembered that the class today was actually in the afternoon! So I about turned, went to my usual post office which is near the butchers so I could get the weekend meet. Then of course as I was near th sea had to go and have a look.

A very calm sea and a lovely morning really. Had to sit and look at it for a while with a cup of water and an Eccles cake!
Came home and did a bit more sorting and had lunch with Tina, then caught the bus up to Freeport. We were making birds today, the sample Aimee had made was a robin but said we could make any bird we wanted. Just a sitting bird as it was a short class today. I decided on a willow tit, not accurate models it has to be said, but fun and I am fairly pleased with the result.
I walked home and it was quite mild which was nice, no sign of ice!
Went down to take a picture of the f the late sky.
More sorting for a while now I think.
