Hungry birds!

This morning I went across to the veg shop and then prepared veggies and got the stewing steak out and put the slow cooker of for us to have a casserole for dinner. it was a beautiful morning and Tina had found some duck food in the cupboard so she suggested going to the mere to feed the duck and geese. they went absolutely crazy for the food, but I had made a mix up with my coats and didn't have my camera with me - disaster! They came charging towards us as if they hadn't eaten for a week so it was a very frenzied few minutes! Then we went into the cafe for a bacon roll and a drink, no prizes for guessing what my drink was either!
When we came back I went to the pet shop and bought more duck food.I thought it was a good idea getting the 4.5 kilo bag until I was carrying it home. Dropped it off and went back to the shop for a few bits. I was feeling a bit tired so watched Grantchester on catch up and then had the energy to walk up to the mere with some duck food and remember the camera too.
I managed to get a lass to take some pictures of me feeding the birds, the very large goose did decide my finger was tasty when I was hand feeding them, even made it bleed slightly!

Then they were off to see if they could find anymore friendly humans.

A couple more shots of the mere before I walked home.

I did do a bit more playing with the felting before dinner, will take a picture for tomorrow.Tonight Tina and I are going to a concert, a cellist and pianist, so that should be good.

  1. I hope you put some dumplings in the casserole. Makes for such a nice filling meal, and perfect for these cold winter days. Sounds like you’ve kept active as usual, so no time for you to get chilled. The ducks and geese look very happy to see you, and prove the old adage about biting the hand that feed you! 4.5 kilos should mean a few more visits to them though. Sausage bap is a nice way to finish it off. Are you off out for one tomorrow?
Really like the first pic tonight. You know me and silhouette shots.
Hopefully the concert went well and was enjoyable. I’ll keep my fingers crossed you made it all the way there and back upright and on your feet 😊

  2. I did indeed make dumplings, very nice it was too.
Good few more visits to the ducks and the 4.5 kilo bag was only £3.60 so not expensive to feed them!
The concert was not to everyone’s taste, I enjoyed the second half more than the first.
