This morning I took a walk down to the sea as it was a dry and reasonable morning, not in time for sunrise but the sky was still looking quite good when I was walking down.
Took some looking towards the sun, which always give the impression of being dark.
I started a jigsaw that I got for Christmas last night, so spent a little time when I got back trying to get the edge completed. Then I went with Darren and Tina to the Hornsea inshore rescue boathouse to support their annual fund raiser where people are sponsored to take a dip in the sea on New Year's Day! Darren and Tina on the beach when we had arrived.
A great turn out, hundreds of people.
The Rescue crews getting ready to make sure all went well.
And then the rush of the folk who had taken up the challenge.
Now, should I take the challenge next year! Will need to get lots of sponsors to make it worthwhile.
After that they drove me to a viewing place they had found at Mappleton beach. Tina thinks you may be able to walk back to Hornsea along the beach from there.
We were quite chilled by then so had a sausage sandwich and a drink at a lovely little tea shop. The church was just over the road.
We called in at Tesco on the way back, and Tina got me new flowers, that jug is in constant use at the moment!
This afternoon I have been looking through pictures with Tina and we have got quite a few up in the dining room. I have done a bit to the jigsaw, not a lot, and then Tina and I cooked dinner together using up as many left overs or stuff that needed using promptly. Listening to Harry Belafonte at the moment but will settle down and find something on the tv in a bit.
Nice pictures of the morning sky. The darker effect does make for a nice pic. I can understand you walking to the beach for a morning stroll, as most people would, but there are definitely some stark raving mad people living in Hornsea! Why on earth any sane person would want to run into the sea this time of year, well anytime of year come to that, I have no idea! I can see you being tempted to do it, you’re daft enough and rather more adventurous than me! Put me down as a sponsor if you decide to do it.
ReplyDeleteThat looks a long old beach, and nothing in sight for miles. How far is Hornsea from there?
They do seem to excel in good sausage sarnies and baps up north. You should make it your task to test as many as possible :-)
The flowers look nice and bet they smell nice too. When can I expect my hyacinths to bloom? I have kept them watered, which is good for me, and they have opened slightly since I got them.
Not sure how far Mappleton is from Hornsea, it was a very long drive. I will try and find out though.
ReplyDeleteFirst sponsor then, so will see if anyone else fancies getting me to take on the challenge.
Really lovely wholemeal bap for my sandwich today, really soft.
The hyacinths shouldn't take too long if they have started to open.
Those flowers are amazing, I can't wait toto see more pictures of the New house and garden as it all comes together.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure about the benefits of diving in freezing water altho there are those that swear by it. It takes me ages to get into the local pool these days. But I will sponser you as long as it is ok'd with a doctor that it is safe for you to do so ;)
I have painted my kitchen a strange green (not much choice at wilko's) it isnt a kitchen paint either so hope it tolerates the damp etc.
Hope to do couple walls in the bedroom soon also. But the ceiling is so high it makes it hard work. And probably messier as more paint may flick and fall. So we'll see.
Lovely photos as usual. Love julie xxx
Hi mike, if you can see this. I wonder what your latest project is?
Mine will be doing up a large bunch if fake flowers I got from charity shop. I need to spray paint them and add some fairy lights and pussy willows etc and hope they are revivable xxx

Hi Julie,
DeleteGlad you got onto the blog, will mail Mike later and tell him you have left him a message. Pleased to hear that you are getting your place sorted, be careful attempting ceilings. Will be in touch soon. xxx
Hi there Julie. All I’ve been doing lately is playing around with electronics. Something I’ve always done, but am managing to do it quite badly at the moment. Hopefully I’ll get there eventually :-) Your project sounds a good one. I’d like to see a pic of the end result. Take care.
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys caught up with each other.
