Snowdrops and pansies

I was at the charity shop by nine this morning, had stopped to admire the snowdrops and the pansies, which despite the weather have perked up.

Tracey demonstrated the steamer, used instead of an iron to freshen up and decrease the clothes. It is similar to the steam strippers and is a standing job really. I managed to not get it all in the picture but the missing top just has a bracket to hang the steaming head on. I did a good three hours and did a whole rack of clothes and bedding so it was ready to go out into the shop.
I had some time left so priced up a batch of books that had come in. I did leave just before 1 pm as I had done what she had wanted and another volunteer was due in. Will go again next week and hopefully won't spend the whole session steaming as my ankle and knee are not happy with me this evening. I did buy three nice books, they sell them at very reasonable prices. We don't need more books but these will all be useful.
I watched some Two Ronnies this afternoon and then got the material out for the window seat cushion and did some cutting out. I had bought some trim in the sewing shop on the way home earlier, it was outside and being sold very cheaply. Hopefully I will be able to attach it successfully.
The plan at the moment is to gym and swim in the morning but it may not happen if my ankle hasn't settled down a bit. Endeavour of George Gently tonight? Decisions, decisions.

  1. The garden has some colour. I was just green and brown last time I saw it. I do love snowdrops, so simple, but when there’s a lot in a group they’re really pretty.
Glad you enjoyed your first session at the shop. Shame it involved standing for so long though. Bet it was quite warm too with all that steam for so long! You need one of those for home. Much easier than ironing everything.
The trim goes very well with the cushion material. I’m sure it’ll be on there when you post the pics of the finished item.
Hope the ankle isn’t so bad in the morning, so that you at least have an option of going or not.

  2. Tina and I are very thrilled at the arrival of the snowdrops and I think a lot of other bulbs are coming through. Although the garden hasn't been tended for 13 years or more, if there were bulbs originally they will have multiplied while left alone.
It was warm using the steamer, luckily I had dressed with layers so that I could remove them as I got a bit hot!
Not sure about the the foam, or any of it really, it is dress material not upholstery fabric so should all be interesting trying!
Fingers crossed the ankle is a bit better in the morning.
