Before I went out Tina and I assembled the new wheelbarrow and I left her sorting out the leaf collecting thing. We got it going in the garden, I did some raking and then pruning the bottom of the trees and bushes so that she could get to the leaves.
After a while it seemed that the leaves were a bit damp and the machine wasn't liking it too much, so Tina then got on with edging the top side of the driveway.
We uncovered a lot of hidden snowdrops when the leaves were gone, much to our delight.
Charlie stayed out with us, occasionally taking cover when he didn't like the loud machinery being used.
We came in for a cuppa when the guys finished for the day (I did offer them a drink). We had so many twigs and branches and there will be more that we discussed getting a garden shredder. We were going to go to Screwfix in Beverly but stopped at a great garden centre first. Tina joined the loyalty scheme and if you registered on line you could get 10% off your next purchase in store. We had seen a good shredder so she registered while we were waiting for our meal and then we had the code and went and bought it complete with discount. It was a fabulous garden centre, fairly quiet, lots of bargains and great food. The pond with the fish in was so clear it is even a reasonable picture of them!
We assembled the shredder when we got home and got on with using it until it was almost dark.
Quiet rest of the evening I think!
What a busy old day it’s been. But the two of you have achieved a fair bit from the looks of it. Bet the Rev will ache a bit tonight, and was ready for a long soak in the bath :-) The garden is coming on leaps and bounds. The snowdrops were a nice surprise for you. I wonder if there are any more hidden surprises? You might end up with various bulbs raising their heads in the spring/summer.
ReplyDeleteThe garden centre sounds like a good find. I bet you’ll be back there again before too long. Specially if it does a good lunch.
Great news that you’ve got the volunteering sorted out. Yet another way to occupy yourself. You’re never going to get bored :-)
Busy but very enjoyable, it is always good when you can see where you have been! I think there are other bulbs coming through. A lady came in to the garden when we were working and said she had been here thirteen years and had never seen any work being done on the garden. So a lot of stuff to dig out and get under control.
DeleteI am p;eased the volunteering is sorted, they seem friendly so hopefully it will be enjoyable.
The rev is indeed feeling the exercise, a long hot soak was just the ticket. We make a good team!
ReplyDeleteWe sure are a good team, I enjoyed working out there together.
DeleteYou’ll sleep well tonight. Which won’t be much different to any other night :-)
