We had some rain over night and the light rain continued for a couple of hours this morning. So no watering today. This morning I woke up feeling very tired, considered going back to bed for the morning. In fact I have felt like that for the last couple of mornings and I do think I have a bit of a cough/ cold hanging around. When the rain had stopped I popped to the shop for a couple of bits, then when I got back I decided to get the latest lot of stuff to the charity shop. Managed with the shopping trolley this time. I had lunch and enjoyed a bit of tennis. When I went to the front door to take the bib up to the street there was a boxed fridge so close to the door I had to move it to get out! Tina had told me she had ordered a fridge for the parish hall and had put thr right delivery address. The courier didn’t even ring the bell otherwise I would have told them where to take it. I went round to the parish hall and Jonathon came round to collect it with a sack barrow.
Tina had been out at a meeting and when she came back she had bought me another plant stand.
So I got rearranging the plants. The kokedama has made it into the display now and the prop squad cuttings are where it used to be.
When I was waiting for Darren to come home I went out and took a picture of the yucca which is flowering rather splendidly.
I took a close up one as there was a hover fly hovering. I think it is a slight blur near the top! But the blooms are worthy of a close up.
I have dragged some stuff out of the cupboard in my sitting room to start sorting through. Christmas stuff, jigsaws, pictures and endless sketches, so sorting will take a while!
I went into the garden to put the six geraniums into a bare bed. Hoed it and was not really surprised to see the earth was as dry as a bone under the surface. I had thought I wouldn’t need to water them in but that was optimistic.
I will finish with a picture I took last night when watering.
All this heat and the work you’ve been doing on the garden, plus all the sorting is probably the reason you’re so tired. It soon catches up with you.
ReplyDeleteFancy leaving the fridge just there. What an idiot driver. Would have been handy if it had thrown it down. Wouldn’t have done it much good! Probably another illegal immigrant doing cheap deliveries!
I like your new plant stand. In fact they all look very nice together. You’re getting quite a collection. You’ll need a bigger house soon 😊
I’ve looked hard, but I can’t see the hover fly 🙂 But as you say the blooms are worth the pic by themselves.
You really are into the sorting at the moment, but I suppose it’s good to strike while the iron’s hot. You’ll be getting a season ticket from that charity shop soon. They probably think you’re a member of staff!
I think we’re going to need a lot more “showers” before it does any good for the garden. But even a bit less watering is good.
Lovely pic to finish with 🙂
We do have a sign to say leave packages by the door but people usually ring anyway even if they are out of the drive before I get to the door! You’d have thought they might need a signature for such a large item. Anyway it got where it wa intended in the end!
ReplyDeleteI do like my plants grouped although I don’t think I need any more house plants at the moment!
I am on a roll with the sorting, best keep at it while the enthusiasm is there.
I am surprised how well the yucca is doing this year, presumably it has pretty deep roots, but you have thought it needed plenty of water for ll those blooms.
I liked the last pic too.
