Just one garden job

I had some stuff on the landing ready for the charity shop, it has been there for a while so today I decided it was time to move it. Got it downstairs ready to load onto the sack barrow. Then I went and cut some rhubarb as one of the church ladies was coming for a meeting and I know she likes to have some. Then Rosie arrived and she said she would like some, I cut a couple more stems to use with some apple for a crumble later. Then I loaded up the sack barrow and went to the charity shop.
When I got there one of the boxes from the advent calendar was missing so ended up walking back home and checking indoors then went back to the charity shop to tell them I couldn’t find it. It was really hot and humid this morning.
I went into the garden to make a start on the bed behind the bird baths where the yucca is. Tina has suggested getting the almost dead pear tree that has been on the patio for longer than I can remember plants in the garden. I had pulled some of the bigger weeds out of that bed the other day as you couldn’t really even see the little pampas that I had put there,
I started to clear the bed but was getting overheated so went inside after I had take the weeds and pruning to the garden bin.
We had an early lunch then I went back out. The tree was really welded into the aluminium planter which had been new when I put the tree in, rotted away now! The tree and Earth were really heavy so I got the wheelbarrow..
It seems to be the week for disturbing moths as one came into the wheelbarrow with the tree.
I made resolves headway with the clearing before I took the tree down and needed to dig a big enough hole as I didn’t want to have to lift it more than necessary.
I came in and did not a lot before getting on with dinner.
Will probably watch the football this evening, good luck ladies.

  1. To be honest it sounds like you’ve done way too much today. What with the multiple back and forth to the charity shop, then gardening including digging holes and lifting heavy plants around, you’ll do yourself in!! You really need to start easing up on all the “heavy” things and start concentrating on doing things more enjoyable! Or in a more concise way, you’re not a spring chicken any more, so enjoy life without the toil! End of lecture. I know it goes in one ear and out the other anyway 😂
It all does look nicer after the TLC, as it always does and I’m sure the pear tree is expanding its roots as I type 😊
I fancy apple and rhubarb crumble now ☹️

  2. It was quite hard work, that’s why I didn’t do anything else. May give gardening a miss tomorrow, you never know!
The tree has some leaves, not many, but it may rally. Time will tell.Nat least if the weeds get big again I will be able to see where it is, unlike the small pampas!
