Bee happy

I haven’t actually felt that happy today as my ankles are very itchy and now very swollen and I m in danger of breaking the skin but try to resist scratching! Apart from that the day has been okay, I visited Bel this morning who was feeling a little off colour, she does not like the heat as it saps her energy and at 93 she doesn’t have a lot of energy at the best of times.
Had a wander puns the garden when I got back and first flower bug photo tonight.
I am feeling a little overwhelmed and depressed with the amount of stuff I keep finding, but it is interesting to uncover things too. A couple of plates I painted at the Scarborough pottery shop some years ago. We used to clean the pots there when we refilled them and kept off the bits of dried underglaze. They don’t do that at this pottery but I used the bits on a couple of plates and it is very effective.
The latest jigsaw in my gift subscription arrived today, another really lovely one.
Sorting through various artwork over the years I thought I would post a few each day. Three of these were done about sixty years ago and the last one I have no recollection of drawing! I would like to add, if at any point there is something you would desperately like to have then let me know!
I always liked the perspective exercises. Used to like the collage and machine embroidery as well.
And I still like drawing plants.
No explanation of my thinking on this one.
I did go in the garden after tea and put the rest of the cosmos plants in then watered, and took photos, really pleased with the sea holly ones.

Thinking about soaking my feet now to see if it helps!

  1. It’s horrible to have an itch like that and not scratch it! You have my sympathy. I have the willpower of a cabbage when it comes to things like that 😊
Bel might not have much energy at 93, but I don’t have that much now. Lord only knows what I’ll be like at that age, if I get that far!
I remember you using those leftover bits of paint on those plates. They came out really well. You should take one in to show them at the pottery. They may decide to collect the bits themselves to use. You really must try to not let it depress you too much. We all have far more stuff than we really need, but you a far better at sorting and thinning out than anyone else I know, so you’ll get there 😊
Funky jigsaw. That’ll keep you away from gardening and sorting for a pleasant hour or two πŸ™‚
You do have some beautiful artwork! Just the simple chair and stool look so good. The plants are also beautiful. The detail is so good. They really need framing!
I can see why you’re pleased with those last pics. The sea holly makes a great backdrop for the bees, and just a great pic on their own. I really like the final one too. The yellow is so vivid, and a bonus bee too 😊

  2. Have my feet in tepid water now and fingers crossed.
I will perhaps send the pictures of the plates to Caroline but they seem to be doing well there as I forgot to say that we did go up to what wa Freeport but is now Hornsea Village and Darren and I had
    lunch at the pottery cafe.
I will try and sort the art work into subject categories but there are literally hundreds to go through!
The se holly do make great pictures with or without the bees.

  3. Just had a second look at the drawings from this entry. You can add the three plants to the two I mentioned on the other post 😊😊
