Apparently it is a dual purpose apple, cooking;eater, so will try them out when they are a bit bigger.
The few sunflowers that I kept going have been slow to grow, not helped by the weather, but they have now reached over five feet and are forming flowers.
I went along to see Sher at the shop, Indid buy a necklace for a present and spotted a pretty plant which she just gave to me. It is a small plant but I will be careful not to say I like things in future!
On Monday when I went to the banking hub I spotted a decanter that I thought would be good for Sher to use as terrarium but it was £5 so I thought I would check with her when I saw her. I was describing it to her today and she said she was interested, so I walked to the charity shop and it was still there, then took it back to her, taking a picture of it on the churchyard wall on the way!
Tina had meetings and a man was coming to check for asbestos in the house this afternoon, I did start to remove the pattern pieces and begin to think about the making of the trousers. He was here for an hour and a half and and took a few samples which he thinks will come back negative!
I took some photos in the front garden when I was putting the bin out.
The only surviving agapanthus. Then bees for a change.
Bought this one a few weeks ago and it is looking good.
This was one one of the tubs last year and against all the odds it has flowered gain this year!
Was thinking about doing a bit more to the trousers, but that would men moving from my comfortable chair!
It sounds like a reasonable day today. Lots of popping about, but that can be quite pleasurable and definitely not as sweaty and backbreaking as gardening is! You need many more days like that π
ReplyDeleteHornsea herring apple. That’s a weird name, or has your spellchecker misfired? They look very nice though. Hope they taste as good. An apple a day and all that. Plus lots more apple and rhubarb crumble, which I still fancy.
I think all sunflowers do well to grow in this country, no matter what size they get too. They’ll be dwarfing you soonπ»
That was nice of Sher to give you the plant. You often get bits for her and she obviously appreciates it. The decanter looks nice. You must post a pic of it when it’s finished. I’ll be interested to see that.
Hopefully the house will prove to be asbestos free, but it’s understandable they have to check for it.
The last few pics of the flowers and bees are nice. Lots of colour. I really envy you of that. About all I see is brown grass π I don’t know what the last but one is, but it looks lovely.
Stay in your chair, the trousers will wait for another day π
The other football semi final is on, will have it in the background to see who we will be playing in the final..
ReplyDeleteHaving flowers and bees to take pics of is some compensation for all the work involved.
I know Sher does like the fact that I keep my look out for things that she may make use of,
No, it wasn’t an autocorrect, they are Hornsea herring apples, maybe because so many herring gulls live here !
Well I hope the apples taste better than herrings!
