Fairly busy day

This morning I walked to the post office as I had a package to send, then collected my prescription and did a bit of shopping on the way back. Quite hot out already when the sun was out. I went out into the walled garden and decided to try and do a more thorough job in sections than trying to do half a job quickly. I will post the picture of the side I was gong to start on that I took yesterday.
I emptied some pots that had nothing growing in them now and cleared as I went. I also emptied the vintage cast iron planter I had and moved it and planted it up.
I weeded the corner stand of bonsai trees.
Thought I would do the next side.
I weeded the two pots that have a few bonsais in. I will have to do the repotting and root trimming next year.
Another session in the garden and then a bit of a rest before getting dinner.
I did reluctantly go out and do some watering after dinner as I will be put tomorrow evening so no watering then! Bit achey this evening so not doing much although I would like to get a couple of letter written.

  1. Blimey, the difference in those pics is amazing! It looks like a different garden 🙂 I’d find that so daunting that I don’t think I’d ever get started. You must be quite knackered after all that. I love the cast iron planter. I’d have it indoors with some plants in. But you know what I’m like with plants, they’d all be dead in a week! Some of the bonsai are so big now. I remember when a lot of them were tiny little things. You’ve nursed them along nicely over the years. I know what a nightmare you have doing the roots, so good luck with that next year 😊
A good days work I’d say. I think you’ve earned an evening of not doing much!

  2. Sadly it won’t stay that way, The knack would be to get out for a little tidy up every week. The problem is that I always have several other places that need an equal amount of work.
I don’t often lose a bonsai tree, I have enjoyed having them over the years, but always did the root trimming bit, such a messy job, but not so worried about killing the now!
Bought that planter at the auction when we were still in Peterborough, have planted it up for a while.
