Another day of garden clearing

I was put in the garden early before the window lads arrived and was working on the top corner of the front garden. The giant sea kale is there and the hundreds of tiny flowers had all died off and it looked a mess, and it stopped you getting behind to eel with the brambles and nettles! I had started to remove all the sprays of flower beds before I remembered to take a photo, quite a mound. Difficult to see just home much rubbish there was in the bed. Took anothe photo behind the sprays.
I had three mounds of stuff to get rid of the flower heads, the brambles and a lot of pruning from the lilac bush. My challenge was to see ifI could get all of that reduced enough to get into the rubble sack,
My little friend was around with me most of the day, having a wash in the sun for a while.
I managed to reduce the flower heads and plenty of room left, two piles to go!
The sun was burning my neck and I needed to have a break so went in and made a cuppa for me and the window workers. Poor Chris spent about two hours just getting the second French door to move!
This next picture has a black blur above the green bag, I wasn’t quick enough to catch a picture of Pandora investigating before she decided to get out!
I went back outside and managed to get all the stuff into the rubble sack, I even did some more pruning and got that in too! Charlie from next door in the bar fetched me round a ginger ale which was really kind, and very welcome.
I did strip down some branches that can go to the burning pile! I ‘borrowed’ one of Darren’s shirts to wear and cover my neck. It may just stay in my wardrobe!
I cleared up and still have to go and put the tools away as I was pretty tired. I left the rubble sack at the top of the garden and Tina had time for us to take it to the tip straight away, so I can use it again as the garden bin is full again!
It has been really hot all day so I will do a bit of watering again tonight. Just resting and building up the energy now!

  1. That's actually quite a lot of work you've done today. It's amazing how much the trimmings build up when you start to prune. It's a good job you have the rubble sack! It's a good job the rev took it to the tip too, as I'm sure you'll be needing it again very soon 😊 It's so much work, but every time you set about a bed like that it looks so much nicer afterwards. You can get plastic indoor plants, so why doesn't someone invent outdoor plastic plants in their own beds? It'd make so much sense 😊 At least Pandora enjoyed herself lounging in the sun and exploring vans.
I do feel for the window men. I can imagine the fun they had freeing that door after years worth of paint had seal it shut. But they got there in the end. I bet they'll be glad to see the back of Hornsea 😂
That was a really nice thing to do, bringing you a drink out like that. There are a few kind people still around.
I'm not at all surprised you were tired after that. Shame you still have watering to do. It must rain soon!

  2. It was a lot of work today and I did put the tools away and watered the plants. I have had a shower and sitting with my feet up and a cat on my lap, feeling happily tired as it is night to get a job finished.
Pandora is a bit more like a dog these days, runs to meet us and chats away and wants fussing. Getting brave too, although the men do talk to her so she is used to them.
I will definitely use the big sack again when I am pruning and we got it into Tina’s boot reasonably easily.
No heavy gardening tomorrow as we are going into Hull and will do a bit of shopping after Tina has had her dental appointment.
