I went into the garden with the objective of emptying a large planter which had had a willow tree in so that I could repot the Christmas tree that is in a sink by the back door. I had thought I would tidy up a bit as well and weed the bonsai tree dishes. So pics of the intentions.
I hadn’t anticipated how difficult, and heavy it would be to remove, had to have a breather then!
Cleaned the plater up and then started on the tree in the sink!
Trying to get that loosened made emptying the planter seem easy! I asked Tina to help me lift it out, somewhat hampered by the root down the plug hole!
Then cutting through the matted roots to reduce its size took a while, but eventually it was on the patio!
After lunch I decided to dig out the other Christmas tree which was being overwhelmed by the large cordyline, and weeds!
Digging it out wasn’t too bad and I cleaned up another planter and now that one is on the patio too!
Not done yet! Sorted out another planter and the new cordyline joined them on the patio.
Quite a bit of tidying up to do and I also put some of the moss on tray and watered it and have messaged Sher to see if it will be any use to her for terrariums.
When I had breaks I did a bit to the jigsaw.
I filled the watering cans and did some watering before going round to see Sarah and David. Maybe I will get to the tidying in the walled garden and weeding round the bonsais tomorrow!

ReplyDeleteI was quite shocked when I saw the pic of the walled garden. I doesn’t seem five minutes since you had it all ship shape and Bristol fashion. Bloody weeds! You certainly don’t pick easy jobs. A little gentle potting on of seedlings is a good job, humping great big pots and plants around isn’t so good! You’re a glutton for punishment 🙂 The resulting Christmas tree in its new home does look good though. I know Christmas is getting ever nearer, but the theme of the day was definitely Christmas trees 😊 I think the pic of the second tree you dug up and potted is actually the same pic of the first one. They do all look the same though 😊
The cordyline does look good in that pot. The colour of the plant and the terracotta really go well together.
Seems you’re taking up moss farming too. Is there no end to your hobbies? 😂
You’ve had quite a hard day, and the bit that tickled me was that you did a bit of jigsaw when you had breaks. Most people would have sat and relaxed with a cuppa. You’re mad 😂
Have put the right picture in now, my head is a bit befuddled!
ReplyDeleteThat walled garden will always be a nightmare as not using weed killer means you just today it a bit before it all pops up again. Maybe I will try the salt!
The cordyline has plenty of room in that pot to not need repotting for a good while.
The moss was round the tree in the sink, haven’t heard from Sher yet but it doesn’t matter if she doesn’t want, the garden bin will be emptied tomorrow.
