Tina has a hard baked loaf that someone made for the harvest festival. She has asked me bout varnish as she wants to use it at a couple more services yet.
This afternoon I did go in the garden for a while, starting to get the beds winter ready, well, at least more winter ready than they usually are! The one wher the bird baths are needs a lot more attention, but definitely better than it was!
We had a brief thunder storm and downpour so no watering tonight.
While I was getting dinner I fed the Christmas cakes, turned them over this time as I usually feed top and bottom!
I am reading the first book in the Vera series, quite a chunky novel, now over a third of the way through and Vera hasn’t appeared yet!
Off to make a cuppa now.
At least you didn’t have to drag the boxes to the charity shop on your own, much easier by car!
ReplyDeleteThe harvest festival loaf is nice. I’ve always fancied having a go at that myself, but like most things I never got around to it. Doubt I will now. I’m sure a bit of varnish will help preserve it for a few uses.
The bits you did in the garden look a lot better. Can’t believe we’re talking about winter and Christmas! Time does fly!
Vera probably won’t appear until the last few pages of the book 😄
Getting on for half way through the book and she is on the scene now!
ReplyDeleteIt has been good though, long sections about the three women the book is about and their histories, although one of them is dead now!
Will try and get basic cleaning done round all the beds, will be good to have a head start in the spring for a change.
