A chilly mere!

Yesterday I made some cheese scones for Darren to take along to archery today. The last batch didn’t make the journey as I tried the Mary Berry method which didn’t work for me. Didn’t take a photo but did today before he set off!
Darren took me out for our usual jaunt, no boot sale so we had breakfast at the market and had a look round. I bought a couple of craft stamps at a stall but will mention that again later.
Tina had brought a lot of sandwiches back from the lunch yesterday and had suggested I take them to feed the ducks at the mere. I cut lots of them up and made myself a small flask. Darren dropped me near the entrance on his way to archery. The ducks and geese were not interested but the huge number of seagulls demolished the lot in a couple of minutes! The water was choppy and it was very cold in the wind. Took quite a few pictures, they don’t really need explanation.
Took a picture of the church on the way home.
And the magnolia tree, the buds will soon be open.
I spent an hour or so in the back garden this afternoon, didn’t take pictures, but managed to get quite a few bulbs planted and hoed some of the beds.
I mentioned the craft stamps ai bought this morning, one was a blocked area and one an iris, had a little play with them before I went down to get dinner. A simple card but I really like it.

I have watched the final of the Throw Down which was good. Feeling quite weary again so won’t be late to bed and it is pre op day tomorrow!

  1. Mary Berry isn’t always as good as she’s cracked up to be. Your scones always taste good so stick with them.
Glad you got out for breakfast at least, and the stamps were well worth getting. I think the card you made with them is really nice. The blocked area is actually very effective. I didn’t think it would be just looking at the stamp.
The mere does look a bit cold and choppy. Not really very inviting for sitting on even for the birds! Really surprised the ducks and geese weren’t interested in being fed, not like them at all. They’re usually very greedy. As for seagulls, well they’ll eat pretty much anything! Saved the leftovers going to waste though.
Really like your pic of the church. Very arty. I wonder if the magnolias are still going in the garden at Welland or if he chopped them down?
Good luck with the pre op tomorrow. Hope all this corona virus hassle doesn’t result in cancellations. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

  2. The staffs in front of the church looked so pretty and spring like so wanted to feature them.
I haven’t seen one of those block stamps before, a great idea and a pretty simple but effective card to make.
There were a few people at the mere but the cafe does open for a few hours at the weekend, I had a drink from my flask in the bitter wind but finished the flask off at home!
All systems go for tomorrow at the moment.
