Knife Angel

Last night I made a card for a friend who has been poorly and who likes giraffes. I had hunted around and found a couple of cards with giraffes but couldn’t find any more.
This morning I walked up to Freeport as I wanted to collect some of their class program sheets to take to a meeting tomorrow. It was drizzling with rain so I was pretty damp when I got there. I saw Mags and Abi, collected the lists and some sponsor money! I walked home s well and it was still a bit damp.
Then I went for another walk to see Jacky, who is home and although still poorly is improving. She loved the card. Walking back I took some photos of trees, as they were interesting, to me at least!

Tina had her day off today and we took a trip into Hull. Our main reason was to go and see the ‘Knife Angel’. We had a very nice lunch and then made our way along to the statue. It is going to be shown at different venues around the country, it is made of knives from the street and amnesties.

The sun behind the buildings and the fountain made for a dramatic picture.
We went round a few shops, had a coffee and then went to the Emmaus charity shop. They had a great counter and I asked if I could take photo and the guy offered to take me of me next to it. Tina tried to stay out of shot!
It was getting a bit darker when we were on the way back to the car so we went via the knife Angel again as it has lights on it for the evenings.

I have done a fair bit of walking today and feel unite tired now, so a quiet evening now, but it has been a good day and the Angel is just fantastic.

  1. That’s a lovely card. Bet she was really chuffed to receive it. It’s nice when someone goes to the trouble of making a card specially.
So much for supporting the local community. That’s twice you’ve been to Hull in a week 😊 Well worth it just to see the statue. It’s a brilliant piece of art, and such a good use of the knives. A bit of lunch and a bit of shopping round the trip off nicely too. The counter made from books is a great idea, specially for a charity shop as they must get donated thousands of them! Definitely the day for recycled objects.

Nice to catch up with Jacky and see that she is getting better slowly.
Plenty of steps as well today!
