The only other thing I bought today was a toasting fork which I can hang on the fireplace when I have cleaned it. It has a local church as the decorative top which added to it’s appeal.
This afternoon I planted up the palm tree seeds which I had been soaking over night, they are in the bedroom next to the coffee trees, hopefully they won’t get too big too soon.
Then I used up our copious supply of toilet roll centres to set some seeds, and tidied up last year’s first flower bed and am so pleased that the tiny plants are now spreading out and are flowering again.
Tina came out for an hour or so and did Stirling work removing more of the Spanish bluebells. There are still what seem like hundreds if not thousands and more keep popping up!
We went for fish and chips at a local restaurant this evening and it was an nice way to round off the day.
Couple of nice boot sale bits. You need to try the “I’m thinking about it” trick more often as it seems to work. I like the toasting fork. It’s a shame they don’t actually get used these days. The toast always tasted better when it was cooked in front of an open fire. I even remember making a brass toasting fork at school in ye olden day. With all the technology life isn’t always better these days ☹️
ReplyDeleteThat’s a lot of palm trees if they all grow. Don’t think you’ll have to worry about extra room for them for a few years though.
The greenhouse was a good decision. You’ve had some use out of it, and you’ve not broken any bits of it lately 😊 Hope the Rev didn’t ache too much after her spell of digging. It’s nice having help out there. Gives you someone to chat with too.
Fish and chips, the perfect way to end a day, specially at the seaside.
I am sure a lot of people had no idea what the toasting forks were, as you say, toast in front of the open fire was fab.
ReplyDeleteSix of each palm tree seeds, so if they all grow it will be fin.
I like having the greenhouse but you do tend to end up with too many plants!
