I met Marjorie and wwe went into a coffee morning where I saw some of the people from the Living Well project again. Came home and planted a few small bulbs in the rockery and then got ready to go into Hull on the bus. There is an impressive reindeer outside St Stephens shopping centre.
I did a bit of shopping and had lunch at Debenhams then made my away along to the Hull Truck theatre wher Evelyn Glennie was appearing with a Scottish jazz group called Trio HLK. They play very ‘different’ and very loud music which is not easy listening, all very good musicians but an acquired taste I think. Evelyn though was absolutely brilliant.
As you can see I had a very good view of her and despite the noise rally enjoyed the concert. Several people did not return for the second half. I did buy a cd which may not get played much, if at all, but it is signed by Evelyn so had to be had. I walked back to the station and took another photo of the reindeer as it was dark by then.
Hull had got a lot of remembrance stuff around too, I liked these imag S on one of the empty units at the station.
Had a coffee as I had over an hour before I got the bus home. Bit weary now but it was well worth it.
Looks like you’ve had a very full day, and a long one too. All looks worth it though. Glad you enjoyed your evening out, even though it was a bit noisy and different. I know you’ve liked her for a very long time, so it’s good you got to see her in person.I’m sure you’ll play the cd at least once :-)
ReplyDeleteThe de orations look really nice in the nighttime shots and I like the stencils on the windows too. So much different up there. Didn’t see anything like that this way.
Bet you’ll sleep well tonight.
A good day if a bit tiring, but yes, definitely glad I went.
ReplyDeleteI thought those stencils were very effective, the north has certainly embraced the remembrance theme.
