This morning there was a heavy fret and it has not completely lifted all day, it was drizzly as well most of the day. So a different view out of the window today, in fact no view beyond the opposite houses!
Darren took me over to the stained glass centre at Cayton, took this poppy on the way out as I love the rain/plant combination!
We also got the pots, both broken and in tact, out of the boot before we set off.
The fused bird course at the stained glass centre was fun, just four of us and they will be ready for collection tomorrow, but I am hoping Darren will pick mine up for me on Saturday.
They are fused flat but it will stand up when fired! Darren came back to collect me, we would have had lunch there but it was heaving and no spare tables. So we came back by a different route and stopped at Deans for lunch and us to have a bit of lunch. The hills from the Deans were completely shrouded in the mist.
Another rain/plant picture, this time from the back garden.
I cleared a space down near the house so that I could move the acer trees out of the worst of the wind. I ordered these four trees and they were lovely, but one now looks dead and the others are not at all happy!
I planted up some poppies that I have had for a while, and then I arranged and put compost in some pots that will eventually be a fairy garden!
I got this little trike pot holder when we went to B & M yesterday, this isn't it's permanent plant but will do for now.
A bit of snail aerobics!!
When I came indoors I sorted through the materials that I have been getting for making quilted landscapes, just colour sorting for now.
What a misty old day you've had. It was miserable here this morning but the sun came out this afternoon and brightened everything up. You still have some good pics though. I quite like the snail pic although I know snails and slugs aren't your favourite thing! I really like the water on the plants, I think that always makes a great subject. If you can get in close enough and steady enough to get a good macro of the water drops, you can get some great reflections.
ReplyDeleteThe glass project today is lovely. Bet it will look even better when it's standing up. I like that. The fairy garden won't be long before its finished I'm sure. Is it for outdoors? I just had it in my head for some reason that it was an indoor thing. I don't know why.
You do use outside plants for the fairy gardens but I imagine the weather will take it's toll on any accessories you use. I suppose if you had a covered patio area that would be the best option. I have little rope ladders to make and at the moment am making, or trying to make, toadstools out of pebbles!
ReplyDeleteYes I suppose heavy downpours or the wind you have up there wouldn't do it much good. Can't wait to see the little rope ladders :-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't decided on a location yet, maybe on the steps.
