Just one picture from yesterday evening.
This morning I thought it was time to clean up the front garden and mow the lawn. I like the little hand mower but the lawn is small and very uneven, and full of dandelions, so never a great finish.
I am looking forward to this unusual tulip, with several flowers on one stem, opening up.
I ordered a bargain pack of shrubs earlier in the year, they have all taken. I was watering some plants that are wilting, in need of rain, when I was delighted to see that one of the shrubs is a kerria japonica. I had one in Peterborough and saw one when away last week and was wishing I still had one!
I took a walk into the park, took a flask, book and sketchbook. My ankle is still sore so just about made it round with the rest in the middle. Read for a while sitting in one of the shelters. This was the view across the park from where I was sitting.
As I walked back this small bright tree caught my eye.
This afternoon I had finished trimming the triangle squares for the spider hanging and have started laying them out. This is still going to be challenging to say the least!
Then, finally, the sketch, used the new fountain pen Mike!

  1. The lawn may not be wonderful, but it all looks a bit better than it did when you moved in! Lots of nice plants that you can actually see now. The tulip is odd, I've never seen one with more than one flower per stem. Should make a good pic when it opens.
The drawing matches up to the photo you took of the view very well, and came out well with the aqua ink. Glad the new pen came in useful.
The spider does look good, but extremely fiddly. I'd have lost patience with it by now, I'm sure. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product, probably by Monday.

  2. I thought I had counted so carefully for the spider squares but have way too many half triangles and not nearly enough background squares! Also, laying it out is one thing, remembering the order is quite something else as I need the table to cut more squares and use the machine! A photo is the best I can think of. Maybe not Monday, or ever!!
