Although it had rained yesterday it was bright and dry this morning so Darren and I set off for the boot sale before 8 am. The strange snail was on the path, it looks like it has part of another shell on it's own shell. I put it is the garden after, I don't like the fact that they eat my plants but I like seeing them squashed even less!! Anyway, the slugs are the main culprit here.
We had our Cumberland sausage baps and a cup of tea when we got to the sale. Not quite as busy as last week, in fact not nearly as busy, but plenty to look at. I only managed a walk up and down one row as I could feel my knee beginning to twinge, but did get this sewing box which I am quite pleased with.
I have a large cotton box which I keep under a cupboard, behind a chair, and it is a pain to get at really. so I plan to keep the bobbins and colours I use a lot in this one which I can keep in a more accessible place! After dinner I carried on with the quilt. Considering I am using a set of materials I won and have made the quilt up as I went along, I am really pleased with how it is turning out. This was when I had used most of the material, just leaving enough to make a matching border.
I hauled out all my stocks of material and found a couple of pieces that I thought made a good border. They weren't long enough to do the edges with more joining, but I think that so far so good.
I can't finish it yet, or even continue as I need to buy backing material. I do have enough wadding left over from other quilts. Then I can decide on the actual quilting pattern and finish it off. Maybe I will get to a material shop at some point tomorrow if I can still walk at all after seeing the doctor! A new series of Wallander starts tonight, so no cheerful viewing in store!

  1. A mutated snail, don't see many of them, it must be a northern thing :-)
The latest quilt is really nice. A very good use of your prize, and no doubt not the last use of that pattern.
I've got my fingers crossed the doctor will have a magic cure for your ankle, and you'll be able to get out a bit better, but you always have Darren and Tina to run you around, which I'm sure they don't mind at all. Don't forget, you are officially old now, so they're a bit like careers :-) I know, I'm not funny........

  2. Tina suggested I wrote down what I did with the quilt, which is a good idea as I hadn't visualised the end result at all and really do like it. Feeling old and decrepit at the moment!!

  3. You should take her advice. I often do things then wish I'd written down how I did it. I always think I'll remember, but hardly ever do!
