Chores and a painful walk!

Went to the boot sale with Darren, there was a sea fret today so quite foggy when we went. I bought a couple of cake tins, good sized ones that look like drums, as another idea to thwart the squirrels!
After chatting to Anya more or less decided that I need to get a ‘walker’ with a seat to help keep me mobile while I try to get something done about the knee. I have an X-ray booked on Wednesday to try and get the ball rolling.
After our chat I went into the garden to get some of the bird supplies into the tins and reorganise the dustbins. Some of the early colourful flowers have faded away now but lots of forget me nots and the tall blue flowers that are multiplying. Don’t know the name although I must have bought the original bulbs!
I spent quite a while sorting the bird supplies as I did have a delivery to sort out as well. The squirrels can get into the cupboard without using the door now as the have gnawed a large hole, but hopefully the tin containers will halt ant progress.
The hosta called ‘praying hands’ has come up again, not a lot like praying hands to me!
When I came in Darren said he was going to the gym and asked if I would like a lift down to the front. It was a lovely day so got the walking stick and did go. Quite a lot of folk enjoying the weather.
The walk back was a struggle but was nice to see so many at the community picnic in the memorial garden.
Another great post box topper!
I sat in the garden for a while before getting dinner and am now settling down to watch the Coronation concert.

  1. I quite like those drum tins. Very unusual. They look quite squirrel proof as well, which is good 🙂 It’s like a running battle against those little blighters, but I think you’re winning, at the minute at least! If they ever find out how to use tin openers then you may be in trouble 😄
I think the idea of getting some sort of combined walker/seat is a good one. At least it’ll add to your confidence that you’ll have a bit of support, and better still somewhere to sit wherever you are. Hopefully it won’t be forever, but at least you’ll have it ready for when you’re a complete doddering old codger!
I can’t for the life of me see why that hosta is called praying hands. More like crinkly old fingers!
It’s been a glorious day here too. Nice to see the memorial garden being used like that. I really should have taken a walk to my park, they may have had something similar there. I could have probably cadged a few sandwiches 🙂
Enjoy the concert, with your feet up and no doubt a furry friend.

  2. Trying to outfox the squirrels is quite a challenge. So far so good.
It was good to get out for a bit, need to keep the joints as mobile as possible, and great to see the celebration picnic.
