A drop or two of oil and a working mower!

I got the manual mower out of the store at the weekend and had a look at it today but it was jammed solid! So plenty of WD 40 and then in to phone benefits again on behalf of Rose. So an hour later the mower had become usable. But before using it I went to the chemist to get some painkillers and called in at the mobility shop. I was asking about rollaters but the woman in the shop couldn’t be bothered to move off her chair and come out of the office she was in to talk to me, so I won’t be buying one there!
I do love this mower so was hoping it would manage the lawn which is getting long.
I decided to try doing the lawn at the front of the garden near the road, not an overly big area.
I did tidy up the edges and tried to tidy a bit where it is growing into the path. Had to empty the grass bag quite a lot of times so plenty of exercise today!
I had been working for a couple of hours and the leg isn’t too good today so decided to
stop there. When I was emptying the last lot of grass I took a picture of the well aged fungi, but they look great whether just formed or dying off!
I went out and sat in the walled garden for a while and spotted mating ladybirds! Will post both photos, they are slightly different but thought they were pretty clear as taken with the phone.
I have been at the sorting again, one day I will have a place for everything and everything in its place! But don’t hold your breath on that one as there is a very good chance it never will happen!
Have visited Sarah and David this evening, thankfully they didn’t moan about the coronation too much!

  1. WD40 is a wonderful thing. It fixes so many things around the house and garden. What would we do without it? 😄 Glad to hear it freed up the hand mower. I agree with you, they are nice to use when they’re working properly, but only on a small lawn. I certainly wouldn’t want to tackle your back garden with one! It’d be like painting the Humber bridge. By the time you got to the end it’d be time to start all over again. You made a good job of that small corner lawn, and it’ll be easier next time around if you trim it before it gets too long. Quite a satisfying job. I hope you didn’t feel too shattered after doing it. I know the leg isn’t too good of late either, so small steps is a good idea.
I like the fungi. They are really good for pics, specially macro ones. Like you I’m not sure if it’s coming or going 😄
It’s definitely nice to be able to sit in the garden and see the results of all the work that goes into it. Even the ladybird voyeurism pics look good.
Along with the sorting and visiting you’ve had yet another productive day. I managed a walk 😂

  2. It has been a good day, was pleased with the lawn and feeling more positive despite the knee pain!
Have tow big bags to go to the charity shop again, pretty much keep them going single handed!
